"Chernobyl: Origins" - is a quest game with psychological horror elements. You have to solve a lot of puzzles to find out the terrible secret of the catastrophe at the nuclear power plant. The game will take you to 1986, to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. You will have to be in the shoes of one of the scientists of a secret laboratory based in the depths of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Escape the station before it's too late! Chernobyl is a dangerous place. On the way you will have difficult puzzles, mutants, anomalies and madmen! Find out a terrible secret, who is still guilty of what happened? Make difficult decisions that will determine not only your fate, but also the fate of thousands of people who have been hit by a terrible catastrophe! Every decision you make in the game can cost you your life.

I really enjoy independent developers and love to see how they put together a unique puzzler. This was interesting in its style and you might be fooled at first by the simple game play. I'll heartily admit to using some hints and guides to move the story along and the solutions to the puzzles were maybe a little off the wall (sometimes literally) but I didn't feel cheated. My only drawback to the game is that in each chapter you have instant death and then must start from the beginning of that self same chapter. This made trial and error puzzle solving rough and that was when I went to the guides for either a hint or to be sure I was on the right track. All in all a pleasant experience and I hope this team gets together for a new game in the future.10 found this helpful
The game is heavily padded with tedious cutscenes, pointless item usage dialogues, deaths that make you reset 5+ minutes of gameplay, and trial-and-error puzzles.7 found this helpful
4/10 a point and click game with constantly changing puzzles, that punishes you for a wrong answer or failure in deduction, by killing you and sending you back to the chapter start. Not my idea of fun, there is a reason this style of game play went out of fashion over 20 years ago!3 found this helpful
A real old-school quest. It evokes real emotions from successfully completing it.
[strike]So far I have enjoyed the game, untill I have encountered the ''funni'' puzzle in Chapter 5. Despite the two guides available on Steam it wasn't enough to help me solve the puzzle which contains a code that is vital for continuing the game further. It's just not for people who don't want to ''bang their heads against the wall'' for hours.[/strike] Ignoring my previous comment regarding the puzzle. It took me several trials but in the end I have finally manage to solve it. Right from the beginning of the game, with the introduction itself, the game it gives S.T.A.L.K.E.R. vibes giving the fact that the story goes around secret experiements in underground labs including under Pripyat. The puzzles are interesting and require couple of tries but nothing that cannot be completed (there are guides for them). Starting from the beginning, which was annoying at first each mistake leads to imminent death to the character, but later on that could be understood because probably the authors of the game were trying to show us that we are nothing but an ordinary scientist who is trying to survive the worst nuclear accident in the history of mankind. Random deaths force you to repeat whole chapters. Boring story. Puzzles are meh. Not my cup of tea.
