Chicken Chess Match

Really fun one and I didn't expect such level of polish for such a small game

Chicken Chess Match is a weird little puzzle game that mixes match three with chess in a way that actually makes more sense than I expected. I am moving chess pieces around the board, but instead of playing a normal game of chess, I am trying to match three or more pieces in a row to score points. At the same time, chickens are moving across the board and I have to catch them before they make it to the other side. It is a simple idea, but having to think about chess movement and match three patterns at the same time gives it its own little identity. The chess part is easier to get into than it sounds. I can click a piece to see where it is allowed to move, then move it onto another piece to swap their positions. After each move, matching pieces are automatically counted, so I am mainly looking for useful swaps while also watching where the chickens are. I like this because I am not playing actual chess and do not need to worry about checkmate or complicated openings. The chess movement rules are being used as a puzzle mechanic instead. The chickens are what give the game some pressure. If one gets across the board, I take damage, and losing all my health means losing the level. I…
