"Childlike(차일드라이크)" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. This is yet another of literally thousands of first person horror adventure games, this time you take on the role of a Korean kid running through various Unreal assets to escape from an Unreal asset. Sure, playing so many of these bad games might have made me jaded, but at least I can see them for what they are. Taking a bunch of assets from the Unreal Marketplace (FAB, as Tim Sweeney calls it now) and dropping them on someone else's game template doesn't really make one a rockstar game developer. And what value do all these asset flips have for gamers on Steam? Childlike is a compact first-person indie adventure that turns familiar childhood games, anxieties, and imaginary rules into actual gameplay obstacles. Developed and published by Park SungJin, it approaches ordinary locations from the exaggerated perspective of a child, where crossing a room can become a dangerous challenge and harmless objects can suddenly feel threatening. The result blends environmental puzzles, exploration, stealth, movement challenges, and light horror into an unusual experience that relies more on its central concept than on elaborate production values. One of its most recognizable ideas comes from the childhood rule that the floor must not be touched. Instead of simply walking through certain areas, players need to inspect their surroundings and determine how nearby objects can help them reach safety. Items can be manipulated, repositioned, or thrown to create usable routes. Furniture and miscellaneous objects consequently become important parts of the puzzle rather than passive scenery.
