About ChildStory

Sonya and the Album

As a child, we all wondered: "Where does the Moon disappear every month?".
This childstory will tell about Sonya, a girl in a purple kigurumi and about the angry Heavenly shepherdess Nora. It is the two of them who create the cycle of the appearance and the loss of the Moon.
Every month, the girl Sonya comes to the polar town of Albom to eat the Moon again and continue the cycle.

✦ AI summary

This charming action adventure features fantastic music and art style, alongside a cute story that draws inspiration from classic games. However, it suffers from significant polish issues including persistent bugs with language and audio settings that don't save, poor English localization that makes instructions unclear, unfair boss difficulty spikes with forced bullet-hell mechanics, and frustrating level design where loot becomes unreachable due to character or object placement.
First of all, I would like to mention that the soundtrack is FANTASTIC. I loved everything about it. The art is also great, besides some dark areas that lack detail so they were confusing to navigate through. I also think the story is very cute.
However, this game needs A LOT of polishing. 1. Every time you open the game, you have to choose language. It won't save your preference. If you die and go back to the main menu, you have to choose it AGAIN. Same thing for audio settings. 2. The English localisation is bad. It needs a lot of improvement. Some sentences were really hard to understand, including instructions to play the game. 3. Some loot from inside the boxes fall in places very hard to reach, either because there's a character in front of it, or some object from the scenario. 4. When I arrived at the first boss, I went through some lines of dialogue and then saved the game. When I died, I had to go through the dialogue AGAIN, either way. And every time I died, there was the whole dialogue all over again. 5. When you get to the art gallery, you miss lines of text because they don't fit the dialogue box. They might not be central to the story, but it still …

Fun linear action adventure that comes with several design flaws. Without naming the game itself, you only need to take one look at the images to see which one it tries to imitate. Most of the mechanics are present, the most obvious being pots you can pick up and throw, and grass you can mow down. Both hide money and items needed to help you reach your objectives. Aside from the attack and picking/throwing buttons, you can roll to avoid enemy attacks and use items. Most moves use stamina that prevents you from attacking all the time. While this isn’t a problem with normal enemies, bosses tend to be unfair and not fun due to limited controls and forced bullet-hell mechanics. The two library bosses, for instance, are so fast that the fight is practically impossible. Items are quite useful since they allow you to overcome obstacles, such as bombs for demolishing rocks and arrows for attacking objects from a distance. These types of objects are scarce, so you must look for them in the environment. The other category are unique items that can only be found in specific locations around the game's environment. They're comparable to adventure game items in that you have to utilize them…
