Chores in the Night

[h1] A Spooky, but Flawed, Horror Short [/h1] [i] Mom is gone for the night. She gave me a list of chores to complete before she gets home in the morning. I'll have to rush given everything that needs to be done. But something is wrong...there's noises all throughout the house, and I could have sworn I saw something move out of the corner of my eye... [/i] Chores in the NIght is a short and simple horror game with a simple premise: Your mom wants you to pick up trash, mop up stains, and do the dishes while she's gone. However, something appears to be haunting you while you do your chores, leading to you having to balance your work while trying to stay safe until dawn. Pros: -Some genuinely good scares: This game did spook me a couple of times, and I genuinely adored some of the creepiness with some of them, such as the creature in the toilet! Cons: -A bit too easy: If you do enough exploring, you'll quickly find a particular item that makes the entire run a cakewalk [spoiler] (Book on your desk that the character says makes him think about banishing aliens with his mind) [/spoiler] as long as you make sure to touch that item every so often. This was okay at best. The idea is there but there are a lot of little problems with it and I had no idea how to get around the monster chasing you. Pros: + Honestly I didn't mind the premise, do the chores while spooky things happen and before mum gets home + Some of the scares were good + The cleaning mechanics were decent Cons: - Having one bin in the house is a pain when IRL someone would just walk around with a rubbish bag (while writing this I saw that you can pick up the bin but I definitely couldn't - The game was way too dark in general - Once a dude shows up to chase you I don't know how to get rid of him he will just follow til you die - That enemies animations also froze up a lot - A lot of random noises that sounded like they were actually "events" in game but nothing happened - You can only pick one item up at a time, I don't mind washing each plate one by one but you could at least stack the plates Playthrough: https://youtu.be/khRUARei9vc Steam Curator Page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/10995314-Szamer's-Collection/

Actually terrible. This game uses basic Unity skins on everything, has no resolution settings, no keybinding settings, no flashlight, and all the assets look like a mishmash of random free stuff. The creature that eventually shows up has virtually no animations, and there is no indicator that you take damage from it until you finally die (and also no indicator of what to do once it shows up.) Gameplay consists of walking around the house and picking up one plate or can at a time, bringing them to the kitchen, and repeating it. And the whole game is less than 20 minutes long.

This game scared the hell out of me! That said I love all the options and the sound design. The mechanics of the game is simple and easy to play with. There are somethings that need to be worked on with the day one drop. Being able to leave the apartments (the building not the room) does not work at the moment. I don't know if it's a certain time in game you can call and have them pick up in game but no one answers the calls to get he achievement. So maybe needs a patch. Adding a checklist to mark off chores that have been done would help I think. Also the monster dose turn invisible for some reason if you leave the apartment room and the lights turn off and you come back REMEMBER this is day one of a single 1 man dev and publisher. I have worked with him in the past and he will take feed back to improve the game. So tell him your feed back and I'm sure the will fix it to make it even better! UPDATE Working with the dev to fix the bugs and small deltas has helped this game get much better. Your able to get your achievements now and the sound design was is fixed.
