You're a new hire on the night shift cleaning an office, and the audio work does a ton to sell that unease early on, rain hitting the roof or your umbrella, splashing through puddles, the scrub of cleaning a wall, even a little jingle when you fire up the vacuum. It's all well optimized too, nothing felt like it was fighting the hardware. The visual touches match that same care, the rain effect actually changes depending on whether you're using your umbrella or not, which is a small detail that a lot of games wouldn't bother with. There's also a directional arrow guiding you to the right office, and honestly I appreciated it, because without it I could see myself wandering the street forever. As you keep cleaning, things slowly start to unravel, more hallucinations creeping in, whispers building up until the whole thing tips over by the end. Just a boring night shift cleaning offices. What could possibly go wrong? 夜勤清掃 | The Night Cleaner is a trashy but surprisingly charming little indie horror game. You work as a cleaner in an office building that happens to be haunted by some kind of entity. At first, your job is honestly pretty boring. It's nighttime, you have six floors to clean, and not much happens besides a few strange sounds and small creepy effects here and there. Then your first shift ends in a very... special way. On day two, you understandably decide that maybe this isn't the healthiest work environment and you'd rather quit. Unfortunately, your resignation seems to have been submitted a little too late, because suddenly you're running for your life xD The story is small and simple, but it makes sense and works perfectly fine for such a short horror game. There are also two endings, good and bad, and getting both is very easy thanks to the chapter selection that unlocks after your first playthrough. It took me a little over an hour to get 100% of the achievements, and I had a lot of fun doing it :) If you enjoy short, trashy indie horror games with some charm and a wonderfully questionable night …

Well...no matter when I do, I can't seem to pick up the cleaning rag in the closet, which prevents me from being able to progress in the game. This is about 5 minutes into the game, and spent about 2 hours trying to figure out what the issue is. Kind of disappointed tbh. Looks like a good game tho.

Didn't like this one ... too much tedious tasks and not enough atmosphere.

Not bad! There is something about these 'alone in the office building at night' sort of games that terrifies me so much. I really liked this short horror experience. Some sounds were horribly bugged and annoying but I think that was kinda intentional.
