I'm going against the overwhelming majority here but I simply couldn't get past several annoyances. I'm not the kind of person that needs impressive graphics to enjoy a game, quite the contrary in fact. But this is on another level. I'm aware that to some extent it's the intended aesthetic but the visuals were unpleasant to look at. The soundtrack has lyrics. I don't understand this choice when we are talking about ~1 min loops, you have to listen to a guy reciting the same 4 lines over and over and I couldn't stand it. The movement is so unusual. It requires some getting used to. It was unpleasant and frustrating to keep failing to navigate simple rooms due to the weird physics. For me, it didn't feel like something new, or like it was intended even if it was, but more like the physics were just wrong. Theoretically, you can play with your controller but you'll have to switch to keyboard for a second every few minutes when trading with npcs. This game sure seems unique and introduces interesting concepts. I know I'm probably missing a gem here, but even as someone that's always willing to cut some slack to indie titles, I couldn't bear it. Maybe I'll try out other titles by …

"Clockwork Calamity in Mushroom World: What would you do if the time stopped ticking?" is too long for a game title, and also is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a particularly bad low difficulty casual/exploration platformer with some very mild metroidvania themes as you shop/trade. This "game" is accompanied by one of the worst soundtracks ever to assault human eardrums and could be considered a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. A horrid blend of lazy pixelcrap and even lazier MS-paint drawings. It's actually painful to look at. Quite an accomplishment. It's…

This game will not appeal to everyone. You might get annoyed by the physics, the mechanics, the singing. Personally, the exploration aspect of a tightly knitted world and the freedom of tackling everything whenever and however you want is why I keep playing it till 100% (unless I missed something). Was it worth signing your soul away? Yes, but when I binded my soul to my character I felt nothing so... I can only assume I sold my soul long ago.

Игра 'Clockwork Calamity in Mushroom World: What would you do if the time stopped ticking?'
