Awesome game with a riveting storyline. There is obviously some deep lore to uncover within the world of Codemancer. Unfortunately, there is an unfixable bug on one of the levels that prevents certain unlucky players from finishing the game. Nonetheless, once-in-a-lifetime experience. 9/10 recommend (without the bug it would be 10/10).

I enjoyed the game so far, but after getting to stage 5-2 there's a bug that makes it impossible for me to finish the game. First I thought I was just unable to find the correct solution, but after a few hours trying to solve the puzzled I finally gave up. I googled the problem and confirmed it was a bug, but apparently the devs are unable to fix it now. The bug doesn't seem to affect all players tho, so play it if you don't mind the risk of getting stuck halfway through.

"Codemancer" is an "educational" Adobe Flash game intended to teach programming. Now... the first thing that comes to mind is that people who can't use actual programming languages and have to use Flash/AIR to make games because they can't program shouldn't be trying to teach other people how to program. Adobe Flash, I am not joking. And they wanted money for this. What do you do in the game? This is one of those "programming simulators" where you are presented with simple hex/grid puzzles which are solved by doing certain moves... but these moves must be provided in a sequence of instructions (hence the programming). This takes the form of assembling blocks with a "magic spell" theme that makes an already confusing concept more confusing! To the point... it would be easier to just teach kids how to program using Scratch or Python or something. Seriously. This does a very poor job of trying to teach anyone anything, and as a game, it's made with Flash, come on. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards…

Игровой процесс интуитивно понятен: через перетаскивание блоков кода, ты учишься создавать последовательности действий для решения головоломок и сражения с монстрами. Визуальный стиль игры приятный и красочный, с детализированными локациями и харизматичными персонажами. Сюжет, хоть и рассчитан на молодую аудиторию, достаточно увлекателен, чтобы заинтересовать и взрослых. Codemancer – отличный способ познакомить детей с базовыми концепциями программирования в игровой форме. Обучение происходит ненавязчиво и увлекательно, что делает процесс изучения кодирования доступным и интересным. Недостатком может показаться относительная простота для опытных программистов, но в целом, это прекрасная игра для начинающих разработчиков и любителей головоломок.
