Coffee For Cthulhu

Alright. [b]Coffee For Cthulhu[/b] is done and dusted. This is quirky little game where you play as a coffee shop owner who has to make special drinks for Eldritch horrors who have invaded Earth. Basically. It's what I'd call [i]cutesy horror[/i] inasmuch as it is technically Lovecraftian, but everything else about it is kind of wholesome, lol. I will say straight away that I don't know where the "keep the various coffee machines from exploding or attacking customers" part of the game description comes from. Creatures come into your coffee shop, request a drink, you make and give them the drink they ordered, they pay and teleport out. You take the cash you earn and upgrade your shop (by expanding seating), your efficiency, and your menu/recipe selection. In order to make the drinks, you will reference the recipe and then grab each required item, one by one, throwing them into a cauldron. When you've placed all three necessary components in the cauldron, you will stir using a meter until the size of the drink ordered (small, med…

I want to support the developers so that they improve or make another title like this, but with more substance... This entire game takes less than 45 mins to complete and there is not much of anything else going on - make the game bigger with more things (like having to restock ingredients for eg) and then charge $4 for it though!

While this is a negative review, I don't want this to discourage the devs at all. I see the framework, I see the potential, and I wish them nothing but the best. Hoping that the next game they choose to make is even better, or that they choose to add a little more to the gameplay loop for this. I'd be happy to change my review if they do that Unfortunately, there isn't too much to this game. I got it for about a buck or two CAD, and this game can be completed in around 30-40 minutes. You simply go to and fro from the customers to your desk, grabbing everything ingredient by ingredient and throwing it into a pot. Then you let it sit in the cauldron until it reaches a certain size, hand it off to the customer, rinse and repeat until completion There are a few upgrades that you can spec into, but the main one is the recipe book. The recipe book is what progresses the game. Otherwise, you will be stuck in a very long and tedious loop There isn't much danger to it, either. Besides the obvious backstory danger, the customers don't seem to pose any sort of threat. They can sit there forever, without a care in the world. Gonna go against the grain here and say that the amount of information given at the start is really all the instruction you need for this kind of game. Maybe it's because I've played more than my fair share of diner dash, cake mania, and other older food service games, but I fully expected to have to interact with the customers to get their orders, and with them each having a little exclamation point over their heads if they hadn't been spoken to, it was easy enough to keep track of who I was serving at any given point. The design was cute, the coffee orders were simple enough on their own while leaving opportunity for some serious difficulty if the recipes just kept coming, and the shoes upgrade felt very classic. If the game were longer or had individual levels, I think it would fit right in with those older food service games of ye olde shockwave and bigfish games, and that is a compliment- I loved those games, hell diner dash was my first ever cd-rom! To that same end though, I do wish it was a longer game. As it stands, it feels like I'm playing a demo- short enough to give a taste but not long enough to leave me satisfied. I really want to like this game but...there is no feedback in this game. Like if you are making the right brew or size, the customers never seem to run out of patience and there is no end to the day. You just start serving coffee, upgrade to get more recipes and once you get all the recipes you make something for our Lord Cthulhu and the game ends. Its short and thats probably the best thing about it, if it had required more I wouldnt have finished it. If its on sale and you want to make drinks for monsters for 40 minutes sure...just dont expect to break up fights or prevent explosions??? because that doesnt happen
