Yog-Sothoth’s Yard

Yog-Sothoth’s Yard mixes visual novel n sim management together, packed full of Lovecraftian vibes. This weird little hybrid hits so different n fresh, def worth a rec. But the flaws are pretty obvious too. Neither the writing nor the gameplay depth feels properly polished. Story’s got big grand lore behind it, but that stream-of-consciousness style makes it real hard to lock in on the core point. Gameplay-wise, early n mid game’s pretty high pressure, n everything feels super samey with barely any actual logic to it. Art’s straight up gas though, character sprites are fire. Would hit way harder if it had full voice acting.

I'm the richest person in this world, no one can outbid me. Didn't think being a hotel manager would come with this many problems. Fun managing aspect to it as it does take some time to learn and requires a little problem solving unless you abuse the alchemy system. Story is good with only a few parts that seemed rushed. Gameplay takes sometime if your going for all the endings but otherwise could be done in a few sessions. Overall would recommend if you want a calm and relaxing game that you don't have to finish right away but can come back to when you feel like it. About the negative reviews, the translation does have a few kinks but overall would not affect the story in any meaningful way if you just took 2 seconds to try and figure out what was being conveyed. Also I'm not sure about the supposed Ai-generated background art however, so far nothing has been apparent or popped out to me as being Ai'ed.

Good game

it's got a few of the cheesy romance anime tropes but the usage of uncanny/horror elements to flavor the story and conflicts is really engaging, and I think there's a lot of fun trying to min/max the management sim aspects because there really do seem to be several good strategies you kind of work from in each chapter of the game based on the temporary buffs you get and all that. I'm quite enjoying it.

This game is part hotel managaer and part visual novel with dating, and its amazing. I had a lot of fun with both the managment parts and the VN, the art is great, the story intresting and the Lovecraft elemets an amazing touch.
