COTTOn Boomerang - Saturn Tribute

This is actually a remixed version of Cotton 2 with some additional content. Originally running on ST-V, this is an excellently presented arcade game. I can't quite call it a classic, but it comes close if you are from that era. This port has decent features, easy achievements, online leaderboards, several difficulty options and the ability to rewind/save progress. There are some technical issues with the port, some slowdown can occur - and you will have to disable the sprite smoothing filter. Still a thumbs up from me, the Saturn Tribute series is criminally overlooked on Steam!

The same review was posted on the "Cotton 2 - Saturn tribute" game (as it suffers from the exact same issues) ----- This is a bad PC release. Basically this is just the Japanese Sega Saturn rom built in with a proprietary emulator. I mean this is not bad per se, I would rather have more old game legally accessible this way than not having them. The problem is when you encrypt the rom itself, preventing the pc gamers to mod it in any way and denying the possibility to play it legally on our Sega Saturns, not sure what is the problem of the company with that. Maybe they want to limit their own proprietary emulator to play this rom? Anyway there are much better ways to handle that (like checking what rom is actually being loaded) and even this is stupid because there are much better performing Sega Saturn emulators freely available on the pc if anyone would have the idea of playing other roms on it. Sega themselves release the roms not encrypted in the mega drive collection. With a release like this I don't recommend it, unless you really want to play this game legally and cheap (and have a decent performing pc). Otherwise just buy an used Sega Saturn copy you will be better serve…

The game itself is awesome and the port is ok. I have no audio issues. Its a port from a port. While the input delay may not be top-tier (about 6-7 frames after they fixed it from 11), it's totally playable and works just fine if you are not trying to beat the high score. Additionally, it comes with great quality-of-life features like a slow-down mode, a rewind function, and save states. The pixel art is again outstanding and the music is incredible. I recommend getting both Cotton 2 and this one if you have no original Saturn and game lying around.

Underwhelming port of a good game By that I mean that I'm not sure if you'll get that much out of this if you prefer having no lag input and good sounds over savestates Especially for this price, Steam isn't in shortage of good shmups for around this price/cheaper You're better [PLAYING IT ON YOUR SEGA SATURN ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM HOME CONSOLE]

A great port of a great game. To start the story and cut scenes are still in Japanese but the game play is perfect. Do I recommend the game, That is a BIG YES, it is cheaper then trying to get the Saturn version( If you plan to buy it) Plus the Saturn version is also in Japanese. I have the Full Saturn Tribute here on Steam and feel that City Connection is doing a great job on the Ports, I do wish they would also put these on the Windows store. I know I'm weird but I like the Windows store.
