Picked up on spec (@ 60% off) and having fun. Good graphics and sound. Interesting weapons and upgrades. Agree with the 100% positive reviews (as of writing) - would have been happy to pay full price.7 found this helpful
Critical Damage is an ancient 3D rendered 2D top down twin stick wave survival shooter where you control a little sci-fi tank with an array of weapons and shoot enemies that swarm at you and try kill your base. It's a very shallow, arcadelike experience with little value or merit for gamers when this was launched back in 2010, and even less 12 years down the track. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. For reference, widescreen gaming became mainstream about 4 years before this launched, so there's simply no excuse. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. Very interesting plot design, but it's not ok for a 2012 game if it's so repeative and dull for its price.1 found this helpful
Bought this game for a very low price (-70% off + low regional pricing). This was one of the first games I'd ever played as a child, and I'm happy to have found it again. Pretty fun top-down shooter, a little tedious at times, but I like the sound design and atmosphere and "story". Used to really scare me as a kid. Nice game.
Nice graphics, good music, but very repetitive and boring gameplay
