Players appreciate CyberTaxi as a niche cyberpunk taxi-combat game that successfully recreates the cult classic Quarantine for modern systems, with an interesting genre blend and atmospheric world-building that appeals to fans of that original title. However, common complaints center on poor optimization (loading screens, stuttering), shallow repetitive gameplay loops, clunky vehicle controls, confusing map design, lack of controller support, and overall technical polish issues that make the experience feel unrefined despite its ambitious concept.
Looks like someone was trying to make mix between Carmageddon and first person driving game set in cyberpunk setting. I bought this one and what did I get? Stuck at loading screen for a few minutes. Visuals are lacking some decent textures. Gameplay is all about driving across the city, picking up people and escorting them to specific point on the map just like regular taxi driver do. In the meantime other cars are trying to kill you. Gameplay is a bit shallow and as soon as you start playing realization come to mind - you're about to repeat same thing over and over. Upgrade car and buy weapons to get the edge. No controller support. Pretty much bad game. Super angry mode activated!
7 found this helpful
Ok, so I am going to re-write the review since the developer found my previous one a bit harsh. Cybertaxi is an attempt to re-imagine a game called Quarantine, where you drive a taxi with mounted weapons and transport fares to different locations. It is not a 100% copy, but many core features are almost identical which should give the developers enough time to focus on other things such as optimizing the game and fixing bugs. The story takes place in a futuristic and chaotic version of a European city. Your goal is to destroy Gambricorp which is supposed to be the company who injected everyone with drugs, that's why everyone is insane. To do that you gotta drop off fares to different locations until you meet the customers who will give you a main story job, same as in Quarantine. There are funny moments and some dark humour, but 10€ is in my opinion too much due to lack of originality and optimization. Some things don't work, such as ejecting passengers you don't want to. Sometimes you'll enter a repair shop and half of the controls stop working ( kinda ironic, since it's a repair shop ). I looks like a game from the early 2000's and runs horrible. Things often clip into each …2 found this helpful
CyberTaxi, developed by Projects from Basement and published by Ultimate Games S.A., is an ambitious genre-blending indie title that fuses taxi simulation, open-world exploration, vehicular combat, and light first-person shooting into a gritty cyberpunk package. Set in the dystopian city of Hindenburg, the game casts you as a taxi driver navigating a chaotic, crime-ridden metropolis where survival is just as important as customer service. Rather than delivering a straightforward driving simulator, CyberTaxi leans heavily into its dark-noir futuristic identity, combining neon-soaked streets, synth-heavy music, and violent street encounters into a strange but memorable hybrid experience. The core gameplay loop revolves around accepting fares and missions across four distinct districts, each with its own tone and dangers. On the surface, you are a cab driver transporting passengers through the city, but these rides often come with complications. Some customers are eccentric, others are tied to factions, and many jobs escalate into combat-heavy scenarios. Missions are procedurally varied, with hundreds of contracts ranging from simple drop-offs to faction-related tasks that reward mon…1 found this helpful
