6.8/10 I discovered these games the other night when I did a search for Heroquest on Steam. After reading the reviews I bought and played through Dark Quest 2 as it received decent reviews. I enjoyed that game and played it for 12 hours over the next 2 days. Since the original Dark Quest was also on sale for less than $5 I decided to try it. It is very rudimentary in it's execution, but it does an okay job of giving you that old heroquest feeling. It hasn't aged well, and is basically like playing the board game (with no rules or explanations given). But since I played the board games, I understand the vibes. For me this is an okay waste of 8 hours or so, but I don't think too many people will enjoy this if they were not original Heroquest players from back in the day. That being said, I am looking forward to trying Dark Quest 3 and 4 in the future.

Worthy of a mild recommendation after the recent remaster. I actually like this game better than Dark Quest 2 because there is no RNG. Both your heroes and the enemies are guaranteed to hit every time they attack, so good tactics like positioning, target selection, and efficient use of your abilities make a big difference. The game is also fairly easy to complete 100%.

Well crafted game that gives a good taste of old school dungeon crawlers

Outstanding game bringing the atmosphere of the board game in a good implementation. Tested in a Legion GO (similar to Steam Deck) and worked well including the controls.
