As I reinstalled darkout once again, as I really enjoyed playing it from time to time, I found it's now effectively broken. The graphic doesn't show raw ressources (coal, copper ore, iron ore, etc) in the ground anymore. You get the tooltip, if the cursor hovers right over it, but its otherwise invisible, making the game unplayable with rare ressources unfindable.3 found this helpful
As other reviews have pointed out, this game hasn't received an update since December 2014 and was "released" in an unfinished state. Because of that last part I cannot recommend purchasing this game. That's a damn shame too because I like this game. The mechanics are interesting, it's an interesting sci-fi take on the Terraria style of games, and, to use terms I rarely ever use and mean it, this game is hauntingly beautiful and quite atmospheric at times. It provides a more tense atmosphere to its survival elements as well which is a nice contrast to the more frantic pace of action in Terraria and similar games. Had the developer actually finished the game instead of having it end at what feels like the midpoint I would have recommended purchasing it even at a $20 price point much more the current $10 price point. If you're fine spending $10 on a game that abruptly ends shortly after it starts to really take off because you've really got a hankering for a sci-fi Terraria clone than edges more towards survival-horror then give this game a shot. I just don't feel comfortable giving money to someone who slapped a 1.0 on a 0.9.0 game before going radio silent.3 found this helpful
This game had potential, but is unfinished and was abandoned in 2013. It should not be available for sale. I regret supporting it and won't purchase anything from them or their publisher again.2 found this helpful

Bought it a long time ago and followed before it was even on steam. i even recall one of the packages coming with an action figure. im not sure if that happened or not and i think that package was like $100...either way the game got abandoned and i regret buying it
Controls are a bit clunky, but the game is fun and hard. Problem is that: if so many people can't play it, I can't really recommend it, although I'll still leave a thumbs-up review. I tried playing it on the Steam Deck, but the screen goes completely black even though the audio continues to work. Maybe it can be fixed by using a different Proton version. That might also explain why the game has so many negative reviews... bc many people simply can't play it.
