good atmosphere, good lore, good artwork, good sound design, its good
A relativity short but well crafted text based adventure, that is full of atmosphere. If you enjoyed classic solo D&D, or choose your own adventure style structured narratives you'll probably enjoy this.
Before I say anything, I need it to be clear that I suck at point and click puzzle games. With that being said, I got stuck several times with no clue what to do, especially with parts where I have to combine items. How in the WORLD would I have known to carve a hole in the coin and make it into a necklace. Other than that little critique, this was a wonderful game. The visuals were nice, the story was so freaky (and left a lot up to imagination!), but my favorite part had to be the sound design. The sound effects were perfect for the actions, and the ambient music in the different areas added so much depth to my experience. You can really feel the passion that went into this game.
A cozy and brutal dark fantasy. I really look forward to snuggling down with this game and enjoying its simple, text-based design, its soft sounds, and the way reverence or horror of the lore will make me hold my breath! Aesthetic to a 10 in the nostalgic dark-fantasy stylization my gothic heart craves. So happy to find a dungeon crawler that I can slow down and steep in, allowing the foreboding atmosphere to crawl slowly through me. So eager to keep exploring Darkward's puzzles and lore. I am so fond of being chewed up and spat out by the map (and almost tangible despair + intriuge coating its walls), and look forward to my inevitable demise again soon!
It's an enjoyable game with a creepy atmosphere. A few of the puzzles I would never have figured out without the guide made in the community section, but most didn't use too much adventure game logic.
