Deadbeat Heroes

A very generic 3D brawler that doesn't try too hard at anything. Gameplay, environments, music, story/writing...none of it was very good. After playing for maybe half an hour I found myself fully and completely bored.

This is a basic beat 'em up set in London's streets. There's some variety in the abilities you can unlock and use, and in the types of enemies you'll face. That's the only good thing I can say. Everything else about the game falls flat. It becomes repetitive and boring pretty quick. You're doing the same button smashing throughout each level. If it was only that, I would rate this as neutral and wouldn’t leave a review, but that's where the other issues become apparent as you make your way through the campaign. First, why is there no reset button? That is like the initial thing you would code in this type of game. Then there's also an annoying countdown timer which starts at each level that you can't skip. There are no checkpoints either, I died a few times at the very end of a level only to have to do the entire thing again. It becomes such a drag. I experienced some graphic bugs too as well clipping through walls. I thought I'd just power through this and at least complete the game but found the difficulty spiked a bit in the last few worlds and it wasn’t worth it to keep going forward. I don’t know if this is any better in co-op but there’s better options for that anyway.

It's fine if you get it for like 4 bucks or something maybe. It has a few good ideas but is extremely repetitive and boring. There is no challenge until the last few levels, which feel more like just too much stuff on screen rather than interesting problems. Extremely simple beat-em-up that is fine for what it is but gets too repetitive. Perhaps the worst things in this game are the menus and options. Who even makes a game nowadays that doesn't let you quit a level on the pause menu? Huh? If you can't give me a retry button, at least let me quit level so i can start again. 20 minutes of mild amusement followed by 4 hours of annoyance.
