[/h2] In Dealer’s Doom, you’re challenged with progressing through an increasingly difficult Blackjack gauntlet, with more rules and a higher quota being levied upon you each round. The idea of a blackjack roguelike is something that has seen a lot of experimentation in the genre. Among the titles I’ve played in this subgenre, Dealer’s Doom is the one with the most minimalist approach. To even begin the run, the player must win 1 to 2 hands of completely standard Blackjack. With a small number of chips to start and the core game left completely unchanged, this leaves very little agency for the player, and causes a considerable number of runs to be dead on arrival. Following the first round, you are offered to pay for 1 of 3 temporary items to help you in the next round, and 1 of 3 permanent items to last you the rest of the run. With the razor-thin margins of the first round, buying a temporary buff is almost always a bad play, especially when your choices are among the often inconsequential temporary item pool.
