About Deathwave

Deathwave is a arcade shooter where you fight hordes of fantastical enemies using both futuristic guns and magic.

The game offers an “Old School” FPS Arcade gameplay which was inspired by Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem and Serious Sam.

At the game’s core is its gunplay and movement, the enemies are smart, they are many and unless you use your weapons cleverly you are probably going to be defeated quite fast.

Spells and Guns

You have a vast arsenal of science fiction weapons, including laser guns, pistols and shotguns.Which you combine with a big list of spells you can also use to fight your enemies. You can freeze them with an ice spell then destroy them while they are unable to move, or just blast them with a fireball.

Flexible Gameplay and Replayability

You select which spells you want to use, and you get several weapons to use as you like. This variety of playstyles will be balanced so you can choose the way you want to play. The game will take record of your performance each game and give you a scoreboard. Try to win as many rounds as possible while defeating high level bosses.

Variety Of Enemies

There is a lot of different enemies to defeat, the game will launch with 4 classes of enemies ( skeletons, knights, mages and cyborgs) . Each one of those classes will have several types, for example, skeletons can use swords, guns, and different kinds of armors, while there are many types of spellcasters depending on the element of their magic.

Challenging Bossfights

Every several rounds, a boss round will happen. The game will launch with 3 bosses, the Necromancer, the Lord Knight, and the Archmague. Each one of those is completely different and has advanced AI to fight you.

I like the spells for combat. But in execution this game just runs very poorly. The hitbox is all over the place. Personally can't recommend this.

Wanted to call this the "Poor man's Painkiller", but that would be rude to that outstanding series. Especially the fact that the Painkiller Complete Pack is now 6.99€ on sale with 6 AWESOME Painkiller titles + DLC's. Or you can grab each titles for less than 2€ and you might have fun with any of them! But MAN, this game is plain horrible. Sometimes it have it's own will. Decides to lag, then just crashes to desktop for no reason. If you want a similar cheap "wave horde shooter FPS", then I might recommend Cemetery Warrior 4 and V. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1150990/Cemetery_Warrior_4/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1609440/Cemetery_Warrior_V/ BOTH cheaper than this...thing. The CW4 is even on sale for 30 CENTS now, grab that instead!

Perusing my library I found this title and opted to install it. Surely after almost 6 years it was complete, I thought to myself because I don't often think things through. It isn't. Combat is pretty awful, and that's really the game here. Can't recommend even slightly.

Deathwave is a great FPS for fans of Doom/Quake/Painkiller/Unreal Tournament. I really love the graphics, artstyle and settings reminiscent of Unreal Tournament and Quake III Arena. There is also a nice mix of wave based combat plus cool bosses, abilities and weapons. The game is also well optimized. This is a very impressive game.
