About Deep Space Directive

Deep Space Directive is a base-building and resource management game about expanding, exploring, building, upgrading, and of course, defending. Your directive is to generate corporate profit by expanding and exploiting the resources in the world around you.

Build supply chains of mines and power sources to feed your hungry smelters, factories and refineries. The corporation demands profits and rising stock prices!

A constant stream of fuel cells and raw resources are needed to keep your defenses functioning and your colonists fed. Collect, refine, and process resources. Fuel cells and ore are needed for buildings and colonists need water and food. As your population grows you can support more and more buildings.

You were sent to build mines and factories, but when you landed you discovered it wasn't that easy. How will you defend your base? Powerful stationary towers or mobile but weaker units? Keep your energy supplies topped up before night falls or risk destruction.

The enemies are more that just a drain on your resources. The Terrene resource dropped by the enemies can be used to help expand outward to find new resources.

Just to give some context on my experience with this type of game- I have very little playtime in this genre and the only game that's even slightly comparable I have played is Total War: WARHAMMER II. Obviously not a fair comparison to the indie dev, but it is the only prior game (that I can remember) I have played like this. The game feels more like an idle mobile game than it does an active PC management game. The only management part that takes up time is the strange distribution system. Combat is simple, lacks diversity in enemy and unit types and after roughly 2 hours of playing I didn't see any way of healing what units I did have. The distribution system also confuses me. It might just be me not understanding the concept, but this mechanic is what is going to prevent me from coming back. I tried to route a certain resource back to the HQ to sell it, and it just sat where it was. Storage buildings did provide a path for the AI to bring the resource, but I just couldn't get it to ship. This caused a bottleneck where I couldn't ship out other resources, therefore couldn't bring in cash, which made my workers angry and stop working. Basically, this one mechanic killed the wh…

I wouldn't reccomend it now. It's more or less an idle game. There are three main puzzles: Creep your defenses towards nests quickly between the nights. Overproduce something to sell and always keep some money for salaries. Replace centralized production with optimised local production. 1 – The first puzzle is trivial: build the next storage to expand and construct a laser tower nearby. 2 – The second is trivial but not obvious. The game punishes you harshly if you spend too much and can’t pay salaries (though it doesn’t explicitly tell you this). However, overproducing food to sell enough is easy from day one. 3 – This one is awkward. You’d want to have, say, a power station supply mines directly instead of going through solar panels → storage → mine to reduce strain on the storage. However, the ratios change all the time, so you either have to juggle it constantly, overproduce, or mix local and centralized production. Priorities are set at the receiving end instead of the sending end, which severely limits customization options. The rest of the game is about the same. You build a mine for a new resource, process it in a new building, and sell it to orbit. Several points for t…

It's basically an RTS with a huge focus on flow control and waves of monsters coming at you ever few minutes. The tutorial gave some really handy hints on how to deal with the flow control aspect and I probably would have been lost without it. There always seems to be something you need to keep an eye on or else you're going to be having a bad time. I wasn't sure what to think about it at first, but it's pretty addicting. I was planning on being productive tonight and thought I was just going to check this out for a little bit, but that didn't happen.

Ever wanted to juggle resources, manage a thriving industrial colony, and exploit EVERYTHING (including your enemies) all while feeling like an intergalactic tycoon? Well, buckle up! It’s easy to pick up but will have you staring at hex tiles like a crazed stockbroker trying to predict the next big market crash. Expand your empire and turn everything into cold, hard space cash all in the name of expanding your tech tree. I enjoyed the simplicity of this game as this genre isn't one I would normally play. I'll definitely be playing it a bit more as its a perfect casual game that I can play when i want to relax but still play video games.

I enjoy playing Deep Space Directive. I like the chill music and vibe with the occasional danger. It feels like a colony building game with the added twist of tower defense. I like both those types of games and this game seems awesome.
