Follow our Curator Group for more reviews
Defense and Revenge is a turn-based strategy game, similar to Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. It has an XCOM-style village system, where you craft items, research technologies, hire soldiers, etc. The battles themselves aren't as in-depth as XCOM, but they have more to them than your typical Fire Emblem game. One of the biggest flaws of the game is the lack of a compelling narrative. There is no alien invasion story line like XCOM, nor is there a Fire Emblem-esque plot featuring a variety of characters. You get a few sentences from random text boxes, but nothing approaching what I would call a story. Overall, it's a decent game but fails to do anything new or unique. 6/10
Visit our website for more in-depth reviews and recommendations
Defense And Revenge by Mir is a compact turn-based strategy title that focuses on tactical encounters and light management within a dark fantasy framework. Rather than aiming for large-scale battles or complex empire-building systems, it narrows its scope to a more contained experience where players guide an orc tribe through a cycle of defense, retaliation, and gradual growth. The premise is straightforward, placing you in a position where survival depends on careful planning and calculated strikes against opposing forces, primarily human enemies encroaching on your territory. The core gameplay revolves around turn-based combat that emphasizes positioning and decision-making over speed or reflexes. Each encounter takes place on relatively small maps, where the placement of units and the direction of attacks can significantly influence outcomes. Approaching enemies from advantageous angles or managing distance effectively can make the difference between victory and defeat. This focus on spatial awareness adds a layer of strategy that goes beyond simply selecting attacks, encouraging players to think about movement as much as action. Between battles, the game shifts into a managem…

You get what you pay for. As a cheap game, it's as bare bones as one might expect, and yet I feel the $2 I paid was too much. The Bad ---------- * There's nothing in the way of difficulty adjustment or balance. It starts out simple and straightforward, but enemies immediately out-level and outnumber you. The only way around this is to know what to prioritize for upgrades early on. The only way to know what to prioritize early on is to screw up and start a new game until you get it right. * Some research is useless, and many buildings do nothing until upgraded a certain number of times, wasting resources. * There is no way to obtain more of the workers that you require early on, slowing the game nearly to a halt. * The Arena seems bugged, and for the first upgrade or two at least, doesn't actually work. Any warrior I select or click on doesn't show up and wont actually train. * Many abilities are worthless or are single use instead of on a cooldown timer, just like upgrades you have to figure out which ones aren't worth taking. - As a side note, the game really lacks in detail. It doesn't tell you the range of any of your abilities, so choosing them when you level up is really a bl…

Показалось нечестным, что противники используют способности постоянно, а у меня по одному заряду... в итоге стал играть быстрее и агрессивней и игра стала интересней.
