This game isn't awful, and I wouldn't even say it's bad. But it's just so slow and tedious, and it's a serious detriment. Every time you do something, the game feels the need to stop you in your tracks and wait for a moment. The base character walking speed is slow, which is fine since there's a run button, but you can't use that run button anywhere outside of the main map. No running in buildings or anything. This game has good atmosphere, but it lacks original assets in many areas. 90% of the graphics are straight from the RPG Maker 2003 RTP. That's not a bad thing at all, but when everything else seems to be carefully crafted to be original, you'd think that the graphics would be hand-crafted as well. I also found the game to be quite bland. It doesn't really do much to deviate itself from what you'd typically expect from something like this, and the lack of original assets does not help with that. Overall, I found this game to be bland and slow as molasses. There's a quality RPG hiding beneath the layers, but you have to really really really dig for it. It's not a bad game, but as it is right now, I can't recommend it.8 found this helpful
DELUGE is a deceptive, sneaky little RPG. It feels like a game that's been around forever, so it's still hard to believe it's only been around for a couple of years. Taking on the role of Hudson, a resurrected soul charged with committing murderous deeds for an unknown evil entity, can you break free of your curse and save the day? Or is the town of Figaro doomed to its fate? This isn't your standard RPG chock full of random battles and level grinding. The battles are sparse and scattered around the heart of the story being told, which is the main focus of the game. The dialogue and the characters are all woven together wonderfully as you explore Figaro and dig deep into its history and the people who live there, including yourself. DELUGE has a lot of fantastic elements to it, and you may well encounter some things you may not expect from an RPG Maker game. And for this price point, you'd be silly to not give this game a try! Long story short, BUY DELUGE.4 found this helpful
Completed. It's alright..but it's missing some special sauce.2 found this helpful
Quite the gem, that is almost free too. It has good atmosphere, music, sounds, story and lore too. Now it has some negatives too, like opening doors takes too long and you cannot run inside interiors... I finished the game in 3h, but I wanted to see, if there is any variation to the ending, as well as making another choice with the human characters. Needless to say, without spoiling anything, I recommend being a good guy all the way from the beginning. Unless you want to replay the game (+2h) If you get stuck, there is a guide for a slightly older version (only 2 names are different as far as I remember) of the game, that can still be used. There are also some free RPG Maker game recommendations in the manual. I know I will check some of them out eventually. Spoiler for ending and variation
If you decide to kill the 3 humans, instead of pacifying them, then they will not show up in the ending, nor will you see their "post pacification" scenes. If you decided to kill them, then with the exception of the Wizard, you get guilt tripped by the main villain.
2 found this helpful
Perfect mini-rpg. The slow walk is a perfect pace, I forgot I could shift sprint until I got to the late game. The beginning cutscenes had me thinking I was going to be in a much bigger world, and there was going to be an overwhelming amount of story to take in for the next two hours, Staying in the same town was great, it gets deeper without leaving. The combat pacing reminded me of Shadow of the Colossus, I enjoyed the boss/mini-boss only feeling. If you are looking for a game to kill four hours or if you want a nice palate cleanser, this game is perfect.1 found this helpful
Honestly for a game that uses mostly default RPGM2K3 assets I was thoroughly impressed. Great story and amazing atmosphere! Will be doing a second play through in the future 7/10!1 found this helpful
