About Demon Hunter 4: Riddles of Light

Dawn Ashmoore is about to uncover the dark mysteries of ancient Egypt.
The old gods step into our world.

The renowned Demon Hunter once again confronts the powers of darkness. But this time things have taken a different turn: Dawn Ashmoore has been captured by an evil spirit, one that has awoken in the ruins of an ancient Egyptian temple. Only one person can save Dawn – her niece, Lila. The girl sets out to rescue her aunt without a second's hesitation. As the rescue mission proceeds, it becomes clear that her involvement in these extraordinary events is no coincidence.

Lila's journey will take her through the mysterious ruins of ancient Egypt, still ruled by the gods of old. Their stories – locked inside chests and engraved in stone – will allow her to uncover a horrifying secret – Dawn has been captured by Seth himself. He's the most dangerous of all the gods, and nobody can stop him from destroying the world. When the last Demon Hunter dies, all hope for mankind will be lost.

What mysteries will Lila bring to light? How is she going to defeat the evil forces?
Enter the world of Egyptian gods in this new Demon Hunter adventure.

The game worked for me, there is a working map, and most of the puzzles were alright, so I will recommend it. However, be warned, Artifex Mundi and Brave Giant LTD are up to their usual tricks, and arbitrarily changed the mythology they used for the game. I love Egyptian Myth, and this is barely even close to it, with too many "fantasy-science" elements that only make sense if you're in an ancient alien cult. Other than that, the game just feels kind of bare. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate less visual clutter, but it just ends up feeling very token.

One of the worst HOGs I've ever played (perhaps actually *the* worst), and a huge step down from Demon Hunter 3. This feels very rushed, with lots of bugs, bad art, poor continuity, broken English, and repetitive puzzles. Avoid.

I was going to give this a pass, but it's got too much jank and kind of forgets how HOGs work. That said, it is a capable adventure game and has some fun with the Egyptian mythology which, incidentally, has absolutely nothing to do with the previous three games so I'm not sure why this is getting the "4" stamp. So if you're bored and need a quick fix, this'll do it, but don't expect the highest quality Mundi can give you. The regular Brave Giant nitpicks are here - morphing objects, tons of backtracking, inventory surplus of stuff you don't know what to do with yet to completely empty pockets and no clue how to proceed, etc. but there are two major hangups this time around that I'd like to note. The first requires considering what a hidden object scene is and why we like them. Typically, you're presented with a scene of chaotic mess and tasked with using your sharp vision to find everything. That's the fun; the artist has hidden a bunch of stuff inside the scene for you to find. Morphing objects aside, this isn't usually a problem except this game has decided to actually hide objects. So many of these scenes - which aren't very numerous, actually - literally put the stuff you need…

Demon Hunter 4: Riddles of Light continues the long-running hidden-object adventure series with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, mythological storytelling, and polished point-and-click design. Developed by Brave Giant LTD and published by Artifex Mundi, the game places narrative presentation and visual craftsmanship at the forefront, delivering an experience that is less about innovation and more about refinement within a well-established genre. It is designed primarily for players who enjoy slow, methodical exploration, puzzle solving, and story-driven progression rather than challenge or mechanical complexity. The story centers on Lila, a young demon hunter whose personal life becomes entangled with ancient supernatural forces when her aunt Dawn is abducted during an archaeological expedition. What initially feels like a familiar rescue mission gradually expands into a confrontation with Egyptian gods, forgotten rituals, and cosmic forces tied to light and shadow. The narrative draws heavily from Egyptian mythology, weaving deities, sacred artifacts, and temple lore into the plot in a way that feels thematically consistent, even if it occasionally leans on genre tropes.
