About Desolate Roads

Desolate Roads is a short first-person psychological horror vignette.

Your car runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere - a nowhere that’s full of many kinds of nothing. Empty roads, a dark forest, endless thick and strangling fog, and an even darker nothing beyond. You have no choice but to explore this seemingly forgotten place alone.
The game can be completed in under an hour - but we hope your brief time in this world will stick with you for much longer.

Features

 • An engaging story punctuated by light puzzles
 • Survival horror elements which keep you on your toes
 • A beautiful environment with a tense and threatening atmosphere
 • Multiple endings

Not a terrible game, but I still can't really recommend it. -most of the time you just walk down some too long empty roads or dirt paths while nothing really happens -without a guide you would walk around aimlessly for so long and would probably have to backtrack quite a lot -I really don't know how you are supposed to know how to fight the enemies, it's definitly a very special way (with a car radio) -in my second run where I wanted to go for the second ending, the car radio mechanic was broken, so I couldn't interact with it, meaning I die, restarting the game fixed this, however -there are no saves in the game at all, if you die, restart from the beginning -another bug: in my first run, there was one item which I couldn't seem to be able to pick up, luckily it's only needed for the second ending, and in my second run going for that ending I was able to pick it up -game lenght about half an hour per playthrough (2 different endings), IF you use a guide. Without it probably trice as much

Very neat small experience in the same vein of other short horror games like Paratopic, Anatomy or Marginalia. What makes Desolate Roads interesting and sets it apart from those titles is that it is less a walking simulator and more a super condensed version of a traditional survival horror game. You have a space to explore with different locations, light backtracking, inventory management, puzzles and also a persistent enemy force that you have to deal with. It is a very short and focused experience but very effective and a worthy entry to that category of cool short horror games.

I really wish Steam had a mixed button for reviews. This game has a really nice environment (although specific locations are really poorly done...) The monster mechanic is alright. Scares and story are really bad though. Puzzles are also quite lackluster. Overall I can't really recommend this one unless it goes free to play someday. Sorry Dev.

Desolate is right, this must be the most empty open world game I have ever seen. It allows you to walk for like five minutes in some spots without seeing a single point of interest, down by the beach you wont even see anything other than the flat ground... and then randomly a ghost spawns and instantly kills you...

I had high hopes for this video game, after finishing it reluctantly, I can say that the only good thing is the history it has, everything else is not up to par, starting with the most important things gameplay and diversion are not at the minimum required level A missed opportunity.
Desolate Roads
At this price i'm not complaining - short adventure , competently made - you can actually see your legs and unlike some other indie titles there are settings to change in the menu !
