About Don'Yoku

Description

If you love shoot ‘em up and you love ‘em hard, with glorious music, with screen filling bullet patterns and huge token cancels, then Don’yoku is just for you!
Don’Yoku is a Shoot ‘em up game, in the most traditional sense, a Shmup, fast, technical, hard and rewarding.

The game unfold during a fantasy 1920, where air pirates plague the Zeppelin routes and mercenaries, like our characters, fight for the rich bounties offered by travel companies.
Take the role of the mythical Iron chin, the ruthless Baron or the mysterious Duchess, in a epic battle against their former mercenary companion, now turned pirates.

Wield the incredible powers of the Don’Yoku techniques, that focus ones greed into powerful beams, shields and even gigantic personifications of that controversial sentiment.

Features

  • Pixel art hand made well, pixel by pixel.
  • A simple yet rewarding scoring system, with huge walls of bullets and huge cancels.
  • Fight for the most honourable of game tokens; Gold coins
  • The more coins you hoard, the more difficult, and profitable, the game become, up to crazy impossible levels, so keep in check that Don’Yoku (greed).
  • Five levels, each with a different style and a unique boss.
  • Incredible melodic hard-rock soundtrack, from Antonio S, will blow your socks off.
  • Play it your way, bindable controls, pad, keyboard and arcade stick supported, Tate or Yoko it, and, for the unfortunate who do not own a old and battered CRT monitor, the ‘back to the 90′s’ mode, will transform your state of the art lcd ultra flat 90′’ into a buzzing and flickering arcade leftover; the way it’s meant to be played..

First it was trying to get controls to work and then once that was done it was bosses glitching out and the level just continually running and nothing happening. It was that could have been fun but the issues overtake the fun. Plus the sound is horrible. Explosions sound like blown out speakers.Sorry but cannot recommend this game.

Worked great on deck. Just set controls to joystick.

This is a beautiful vertical shmup with plenty of challenge, especially on later levels and later bosses. With Joytokey wasn't to tricky to set up key binding. Controls are very tight. Sometimes hard to avoid enemies running into you like on the last level some trickiness to the last couple bosses, but overall I strongly recommend this game. Wish there was more posted gameplay and runs.

The game begins with the Steam overlay screen on - so there's that. It's a nightmare to figure what key to press to navigate through the menus let alone to actually start the game. Then, when I stumbled across a menu-screen that looked like I could change to a controller, it was impossible to actually configure anything. Even at an 80% discount and at 57p I had to refund. A total waste of time.

This game is fairly short, but with great replay value. The soundtrack is one of the absolute best I have heard in any video game! I don't normally leave reviews on games, but this one was so good that I felt like I needed to share in case anyone is on the fence about this one. I saw several reviews from people complaining about the control setup process or the difficulty they had even getting their controller to work, but I had absolutely no problems with that. For reference, I am using an xbox one controller. I'm wondering if those were issues that have been resolved in recent years as it looks like this game has been out for some time. I literally just backed out of the game just to write this because of how blown away I was. It exceeded every single expectation that I had of it. 10/10 I'm diving back in!
