[h1]Don’t Forget to Smile – A Review of My Descent Into Corporate Hell[/h1] I booted this up expecting to pick up some orbs, and maybe, if I was lucky, commit light corporate homicide. What I did not expect was to be spiritually attacked by a game that understands the exact flavour of existential misery that comes from minimum-wage work. Cheers for that, lads. My journey started with my character being immediately swarmed by what I can only describe as the physical manifestations of “your manager wants a word.” Before I’d even picked up my first weapon, I was having flashbacks to my old job, where being three minutes late was treated like I’d personally kicked the Queen. And the weapons? Mate. These are not normal weapons. These are spite-powered tools forged in the fires of every health-and-safety meeting that should’ve been an email. I unlocked one that genuinely made me laugh so hard I got hit by about twelve enemies and died instantly (Taser). Worth it. As the waves got busier, the screen absolutely exploded with particle effects. I’m talking fireworks, confetti, industrial accidents—little sparks of chaos everywhere. This is a crazy take on this ever growing genre. It harsh, it provoking, but first of it FUN! You are a worker who need to survive in this crazy world we have. In this case the game use silly graphics and sound effects to bring the dizzy chaotic feeling. The feedback system on its place both in menu and gameplay, many juice effects and sounds. Overall a quality work with active Dash to kill enemies, variety of skills, evolves, passives, Meta progress and database. A creative and crazy addition to the bullet hell genre. Filled with upgrades, violence and chaos Don't Forget to Smile is a brilliant action packed game from the get go. To top it off a fantastic soundtrack to keep the adrenaline flowing. This project has been given a lot of time and love and as a first time developer I think Existerror have hit it out the park. Highly addictive and thoroughly enjoyable gameplay. At times i found the game hilarious as the journey descends into madness carnage and a wonderful commentary on the stresses and strains of everyday living within a corporate environment. Absolutely Fantastic!1 found this helpful
If you enjoy Survivors likes, there's a good chance you'll like this. Lots of upgrades, several weapons, nice music. Generally just a fun time. But, I think after an hour of play I've experienced my fill. I can only play through the one level so many times... Permanent upgrades are earned through credits, which are slow to earn. There is certainly a grind here. It's laid back though, I spent the last 30 minutes playing this with my cat sleeping in my arms.
Game has got potenital for a one man show!
