About Don't Sink
A Sandbox-Adventure-Pirate-RPG that takes inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean (2003 video game), FTL: Faster Than Light, and Sid Meier's Pirates but makes certain to stand out on its own.
- Explore a massive world with unique islands and landscapes. Discuss rumors and discover the origins of each island by talking to the people that live there
- Expect the unexpected when at sea. Events you may be unprepared for may occur such as a foodborne illness among your crew. You'll need to have access to the right supplies and have the experience to keep your ship afloat
- A casual but real challenge - While simple to pickup and understand, there are numerous events that only an experienced swashbuckler will be prepared for. This makes the game more satisfying for long term pirates
- Thoughtfully executed cutscenes that help to bring the world to life as well as reward pirates that explore

- Sailing between islands is necessary to expand your control over the world and to increase your reputation
- Tending to the morale, hunger, and thirst of your crew will require you to maintain a supply of food/water and consider whether or not rationing food is required during long journeys
- Governing islands you've conquered is a difficult responsibility as you will need to solve economic issues before they get out of hand
- Purchase larger ships as you fight your way through the sea. Famously powerful vessels such as the Galleon and Man of War are but a few of the available ships
Bonus features
- Community translations and a translation tool that simplifies the process for contributors
- Unique leaderboard system that tracks your overall career as a pirate across multiple saves
- Quick access to developers for easy discussion/suggestions
- Save compatibility between updates

This game doesn't have much going on, and what it does have going is too raw imo The writing is extremely simple, every time you do a mission your next time at sea will have your crew saying "Wow, you sure did that mission, captain!" as they recite the blow by blow of what you literally just did Ship battles are hard right up until you find out you can just demand the opposing captain 1v1 you and you can essentially stunlock them by spamming a single attack, *and this is more profitable than winning ship fights legitimately* You can become some sort of pirate overlord and take over cities, but city "combat" is literally just a numbers game where you need to pass a crew count gate and then it randomly generates how many of your crew died in the endeavor before giving you the town, meaning there isn't even any sort of minigame there Works well on the steam deck, but also there just doesn't feel like there's much point to it all
One of those gems, where the game's idea and mechanics are well executed, well coded, and well designed. Runs using low resources, so not only is it easily accessible to all platforms but, also optimized to do so. Because of this its a great game to play. Great job to the game dev(s), hoping you make another title. Well done.
Pirates, sky blue pristine waters, beautiful beaches... Man, this game has a VIBE going on. Sadly, trying to look past these vibes reveals a painful simplicity that never actually tries to do much with a bunch of very promising ideas, seriously, there are some good concepts here, but they are just that, concepts.
This feels like an untested, unpolished, not optimised port of a mobile or console game. The first sign for that is, that during character creation you have a keyboard on screen, which you can navigate with an invisible mouse cursor or the arrow keys. At least the physical keyboard also works. But the in game controls are on some other level of bs. Esc doesn't close menus, you have to use backspace. Why? For users of non English keyboards y and z are swapped. Not too bad, just change it, right? Wrong! I don't know if it's laziness or arrogance but this is one game with the great design choice of not letting the player adjust the controls to their needs. At least there is an option to make the cursor visible. Buuut it doesn't work. Alright, the game still looks nice and might me fun after I've gotten used to the worlds second dumbest set of controls. So I started playing. The first quest is do buy supplies. For some you get a recommended amount, for other you don't. Guys.. It's two minutes into the game, how should anyone know, what to do? But ok, just buy some and hope it'll be enough. While moving around the island there is a graphical design, which is odd and i personally a…
