Save Falafel from within a towering, puzzling laboratory in this super challenging retro puzzler!

Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory is a puzzle game that has been described as “a combination between Pac-Man and chess”. Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory combines puzzle and strategy elements with an engaging storyline full of memorable characters and biting humor.
  • Over 100 puzzles: Can you beat Dr. Kobushi's tower? Over 100 thought-provoking puzzles will challenge your creativity and insight.
  • Meet new frenemies: Anton, Maurice, Janine and Clowes are the Puppet Panics, a gang of robotic puppets created by Dr. Kobushi to surveil his tower. Get to know them, solve their puzzles and show them who's boss!
  • Innovative and classic mechanics: Puzzles mix innovative mechanics, such as entangled blocks, with four different types of robot enemies as well as classic dungeon mechanics you've come to know from, for example, the Zelda series.
  • Challenging for adults, accessible for kids: Dr. Kobushi's Labyrinthine Laboratory offers highly challenging puzzles even for puzzle game veterans, while adopting a style that makes it great for younger players (who might appreciate receiving puzzle hints from older friends or family members!)
  • Original chiptune soundtrack by Fearofdark!

When the game is more trail and error than linch-pin puzzler, that delay when you move and having to wait for all the robots to move around makes, plus having deaths reset everything, adds a consistent slowness that builds into a malaise of frustration. If you can get past that it seems to have alot of puzzles to throw at you and quirky character dialogue if you like that sort of thing.

I originally bought the game because fearofdark made the OST and puzzle games can be pretty cool! Now I'm playing it so the music keeps my rage within.

If you want a puzzle game that really excercises your mind, then Dr.Kobushi's is for you. It really makes you think outside the box with it's turn based grid puzzles.

I'm 40 levels in, so this review may change as I get further, but this has been a really pleasant puzzle game. I was put off by a few "HARDEST PUZZLE GAME EVER?!" comments, and that made me hold off on playing it for a long time. But the puzzles are honestly pretty straightforward if you've played Sokoban games before. This game makes the correct path pretty straightforward to figure out, but also doesn't force you into super specific movement patterns like some of the more hardcore Sokoban games. The writing is enjoyable, and the soundtrack is excellent. If you liked Chip's Challenge, or like Alan Hazelden's puzzles but wish they were a bit more approachable, this will probably be right up your alley.
