About Dragonhold

Dragon-riding extraction ARPG with castle building

Dragonhold is a mission-based dragon riding ARPG. Take on dangerous excursions across the war-torn Azarkeen region, fighting on dragonback and on foot to seize loot and relics. Then extract back to your castle island, where you expand your town, craft gear, and upgrade your warriors for the next run. Each mission is a risk–reward run: push deeper for better rewards, or extract early to secure what you’ve found. Play fully solo or team up in online co-op; your progress and castle carry across both.Dragonhold is NOT always online. You can run a dedicated server yourself, or play on many freely provided official servers.

Key features

  • Ride and fight on dragons – Soar over battlefields, strafe enemies with fire, then dive into brutal close-quarters combat as a dragon rider.
  • Mission-based extraction loop – Choose your mission, hunt for loot and materials, then extract safely or risk going deeper.
  • Rebuild Dragonhold castle – Restore a ruined stronghold and surrounding town; unlock vendors, crafting stations, and new progression systems as you rebuild.
  • Craft and upgrade – Forge weapons, armor, and arcane relics. Grow your dragon’s power and your own build with skills and gear.
  • Bosses and elite encounters – Take on challenging bosses both on dragonback and on foot, learning patterns and coordinating with allies.
Take to the skies on a mighty dragon and unleash fiery attacks on your enemies. Explore a vast enchanted realm and save the people of Azarkeen. Unleash deadly abilities and magical powers to prevent a corrupt holy war spreading across the world. Restore the balance in spectacular third-person action in solo or multiplayer modes.

Play solo or with friends

Dragonhold is fully playable solo from start to finish – you don’t need other players or a constant online population to progress.
You can:
  • Play offline / privately
  •  Host your own dedicated server
  •  Or join freely provided official servers for co-op sessions
Co-op is there if you want it; the entire experience can be enjoyed as a single-player ARPG.
Are you ready to become a member of the legendary Boundless Order, harnessing the power of dragons and etching your name into the annals of history? Your destiny awaits in Dragonhold.

Played for about 40 minutes despite the negative reviews. I rarely ever post reviews, but damn, this one deserves it. In theory, this should be a great game. It combines base-building elements, which I love, with riding dragons, which is one of those timeless nerd fantasies. But the actual gameplay is so janky that it hurts. The combat is super stale and weird, both in human and dragon form. The dragon form doesn't even have any kind of pip or tracking system to show where your fire is actually going, so you have to kind of guess where your attacks are going to land based on the movement of the enemies and the distance between you. All of this is made even worse by movement controls that are just terrible and completely unintuitive. There was one part that actually made me quit for good. There are these stone things you have to break by getting off your dragon and essentially falling hard onto them as a human. The tracking is so bad once you leave your dragon that it took me about 15 minutes to finally break one because, when you fall from the dragon, you have little to no control over where you're actually aiming your fall. I would like to say that this game has promise, but f…

Great game that gives you a dragon which is always awesome and you can city build, tons of potential to be had. Dev updates and talks with the community very often. Looking forward to what the Devs add. Worth getting in my opinion.

The idea of the game is very good, the implementation is also interesting, the game doesn't hold your hand and you have to discover a lot of stuff by yourself. I'm writing right now because the game is starting to click for me and I'm having a really fun time with the game. At the same time, I had some performance issues (mostly regarding fps, framerate, and lag spikes), but differently of the others reviewers, I did not have any crash so far. I think for the most the biggest problem so far is that the game do not feel polished enough for a 1.0 release. Some animations and textures are a bit rough here and there, but as an indie game I think is just fine. Other stuff that is really annoying is the game size and updating always take ages patching, and you have to had the game size available to update it. Not sure if a UE4 problem, or steam, but most of the games I don't have this problem. If this was an early access it will be easy a thumbs up, even if the game still has a lot of bugs that will impact your gameplay and as an extraction game, and can very be frustrating. But I have being in the discord and the devs do not really abandon the game, they are actively trying to fi…

For me, the inventory window is poorly designed. After click the "i" button, I right-clicked on the weapon, and the weapon was taken off. Now, I'm trying to equip it, but I only see my character and empty inventory slots. People say I have to drag the weapon to that slot, but how can I drag it if I don't see my storage, only the character and empty slots. There's nothing to drag. I've tried many ways to equip myself with a weapon, but it doesn't work. I can't play this game without a weapon. There should be an option to click on an empty field and it should then show you which weapons you can equip. I click the button "i" and I don't see anything I could drag into those empty fields. I'm returning this game because I don't know how to play.

just to start off by saying this game is Early Access and has issues for sure. the great part is, the developers are active with communicating with and supporting players with the issues that you can have, such as servers for multiplayer in my case. which a huge relief as a customer and it does make it easier to overlook other issues that you feel more confident that they are working on, such as in game bugs or quality of life mechanics. now to the pros and cons, CONS. there are teething issues early on, as i mentioned above, and there are some more issues such as clipping into and getting stuck on nothing in game, a somewhat small choice in abilities and classes, singular loot boxes for alcoves and smaller dungeons. when in large co op teams seems a bit lacking in loot for squads, and similar small things along with balancing that will likely change going forward. PROS. first off, this game is immensely enjoyable, sure there is jank, but having a team of dragon riders have dragon v dragon combat and then seamlessly sky drop into a boss fight is really amazing. your player character and dragon are somewhat independent entities with their own levels and skill trees(though so…
