Dreamcards

Good roguelite with pretty visuals. It's not as deep as some other card games of this kind but it's very entertaining for a few hours. The tutorial seemed too convoluted to me, so I just jumped into a game without really understanding it, but once I did understand, I really enjoyed playing. The combos become obvious after a few runs. It took me about 4 hours to win a run on the easiest difficulty. I wish the daytime visuals were more polished, though, and there needs to be more diversity in the cards. The 100 steam achievements is also overkill, it's never that fun to get achievements for doing almost nothing, nor is it fun having this long list of things to do to get them.

As someone who has not played many deck building games, much less a roguelike deck builder, I was shocked at how much fun I have playing Dreamcards. The more minimal and laid-back vibe of Dreamcards is perfect for when you just want to take your time to build your strategy, and I personally enjoy feeling rushed to make any decisions after a long day of work. This game can be punishing at times, which makes it even more rewarding when you find a new synergy you like. The art style, card names, stickers, and other mechanics all create such a cozy and silly atmosphere that keeps bringing me back to this game. Definitely recommend to both fans of the genre or those who (like me) are new to games like this. As others have already mentioned, the beginning of the game can feel overwhelming. At least for me, with my limited experience with similar games, keeping track of all of the different mechanics and points during the tutorial was not easy. Still, I think the devs did a good job with the tutorial since I was able to play and go pretty far on my first run. Seeing how the points are used/converted in the practice round also made it much easier to put everything together. One recommend…

It is a unique, beautiful game that is clearly made with a lot of love. It is easy to lose hours in this game trying new strategies and going 'what if' I would love to see this game continue to grow and be tuned as i feel like some strategies are more consistent and pwoerful than others, but its an absolute blast as it is and love the amount of risks that the devs took

Fun game, still getting the hang of how to build good deck synergies but unlocking some of the card upgrade mechanics helps a lot. I like the use of Jung/Freud dream concepts and the art for the interactions and monster animations. Some of the card unlock conditions seem a bit obscure, but I probably just have to start going out of my way for them more instead of relying on casual play.

Dreamcards is a roguelike deckbuilder where you build a deck from memories, relationships, and everyday actions during the day, then use those cards against a nightmare while you sleep. Each turn is split between using your deck to generate resources and spending those resources to build stronger future turns. Pros ✔️ The art and nightmare designs are excellent - The hand-drawn style already stood out before I understood what I was doing, and the nightmare itself has some really great animation. ✔️ The economy management is really interesting - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Moon, and the other resources all feed into different parts of your turn, so you are constantly building what you will need later instead of just spending mana on whatever card is strongest now. ✔️ The premise fits the mechanics really well - Turning memories, relationships, and everyday actions into cards you then use inside your dreams gives the deckbuilding a reason to exist beyond just being another card game. Cons ❌ It explains itself pretty poorly - There are a LOT of currencies, phases, and interactions thrown at you quickly.
