About Dreamslayer
Dreamslayer is a student project developed in Unreal Engine 5 as a part of the year-long Diploma of Information Technology: Game Art and Design, Game Programming at Swinburne University of Technology. Each class group becomes a development team working on a single game project, from conception all the way to public release.
Slay Your Demons
Dreamslayer is an epic fantasy first-person hack’n’zap swarm arena game with retro styling. Play as Argeniton, a holy warrior ascended to dragon form, as a demon invasion engulfs your world from beyond the stars.
Roused to war, you cross the dimensional threshold to confront Demon Lord Xondadus in his floating citadel of Cazardia, only to be trapped in an endless nightmare.
Your dragon form is stripped from you. But this is not defeat. This is your final test. Defeat the hordes, confront Xondadus, regain your power, and break the dream – only then could you truly take your place amongst the gods.

This game, known as Dreamslayer, is a fun to play Beat 'em up/Hack and Slash with very good mechanics. To go into more depth, each spell and weapon serves a purpose, with 3 types of each and different special attacks for all 6. The 3 spells (shock, poison, and force) have a simple 1 button press attack, but when you hold down right click, the attack becomes much stronger, and takes down large groups of enemies at once. All 3 spells are worth using, and hold their own within the meta. The weapons, on the other hand, are less unique in their left click function, but holding down left click makes up for the shortcoming, as each special move provides a game changing way to kill demons. Going by order, the Sword has a thrust attack that hits enemies and launches you forward in the direction of your crosshair. The Spear has a simple throw attack, however you must retrieve it every throw. Lastly, the Axe has the best special attack, as when holding down left click, you are able to throw the axe, like you would the spear. pretty fun
I don't like fast paste, swarm games but just like DarkTide I enjoyed my time playing this
Peaceful Hub. I would recommend downloading this game just to spend time in the hub alone. You can also go fishing in the small pond in the center of the hub. Not much to do in the actual missions as far as I can tell, just three highscore arenas. Combat is still decently enjoyable.
Tried to play it 3 times. Each time, game froze within minutes. It seems to run fine, as long as you avoid actually hitting things with your sword... Sooo... Running around the starter room for a few minutes then? That's all you can expect from this rubbish.
