Players are divided on DumbBots: Hello World, with some finding it an engaging and intuitive introduction to programming concepts through clever level design and visual learning, while others criticize its convoluted interface, low-poly aesthetics, and overall presentation. The game's free price and educational value appeal to those learning to code, though detractors argue the ugly visuals and clunky interface undermine what could be an interesting puzzle experience.

"DumbBots: Hello World" is a convoluted and ugly "programming sim", one of those puzzle games where you wrestle with a really ugly interface to produce outcomes in the game through logical expression... if that sounds boring, it's because it is. Couple that with extremely bad visual and technical presentation and you can very quickly, without the need to use any programming at all, understand why DumbBots: Hello World was such a flop. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. On the upside there's no cost to this game, and it's a noble thing whenever a developer adds to the body of available games on Steam without any thought of remuneration. Although, as always, just because something has no cost doesn't mean it has value. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector c…

This review is based off someone who is new to the wonderful, frustrating, and rewarding world of coding. I'm a self-taught hobbyist. I'm teaching myself the basics! DumbBots: Hello World is a great introduction to how code works. Hello World also is great for people who learn better through visuals, exercises, and fun game-play. I'm not sure how to describe this game since there is a full game but hello world also feels like a full game within itself. It definitely does not feel like a demo, I guess the closest thing I can describe it is a prequel/introduction. Visually, this game has a vapor-wave, neon, and voxel-like graphics. I find the simple visuals of this game perfect for its intent. The tutorial stage of this game actually comes in multiple parts, which I found helpful in absorbing new information. At the end of each segment you are able to explore yourself, how implement the code. If you're stuck they do have an option to review previous stages of the tutorial. I advise anyone who is entirely unfamiliar and new to coding to not rush through or blindly spam the next button to get through the tutorial. it's important to read through the text in order to learn the function…

DumbBots: Hello World doesn't have the best block coding system, or the highest quality models, or good animations, or the ability to be racist. Actually that last one is not true. However DunbBots is just the kind of game I am looking for, and I think it may even have some utility to people who are completely unfamiliar with how code works. Out of all the block coding exercises I have done for school or for fun this is by far one of the best, funnest, and advanced ones I have seen. There are some issues, for example you can set an IF statement based on the distance that you are from an object, so you can say if the bot is either Long. Medium, Short, or close range to do a specific action. Problem is that it is not specified how far those distanced actually are. I also believe that they could make things a bit more clear. Does a pickup action only pick up the object or does it make the bot go to and then pick up an item? After a while of trying to fix my block code I started to think that it was the previous, the problem is that there is no action to tell make your bot move to a medkit or weapon. Perhaps it is the ladder, and it is supposed to make bots go to and pick up am item …
