About The Farmer Was Replaced
Program a drone using a Python-like language to automate farming tasks and watch it execute your code while you sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. The game teaches programming fundamentals through continuous progression, starting with hand-held tutorials and ramping up to genuinely challenging puzzles that reward clever automation and optimization.
Farming earns you resources which can be spent to unlock new technology.
Programming is done in a simple language similar to Python. The beginning of the game is designed to teach you all the basic programming concepts you will need by introducing them one at a time.
While it introduces everything that is relevant, it won't hold your hand when it comes to solving the various tasks in the game. You will have to figure those out for yourself, and that can be very challenging if you have never programmed before.
If you are an experienced programmer, you should be able to get through the early game very quickly and move on to the more complex tasks of the later game, which should still provide interesting challenges.
Although the programming language isn't exactly Python, it's similar enough that Python IntelliSense works well with it. All code is stored in .py files and can optionally be edited using external code editors like VS Code. When the "File Watcher" setting is enabled, the game automatically detects external changes.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Most of my hours played were idle letting my scripts run. It's not a particularly fun game. Feels more like solving leetcode questions than playing a game. I'm surprised given the overwhelmingly positive reviews.1 found this helpful
Best programming game ever
Задумка неплоха, но игра сырая
Great scripting / idle automation game. I had a tonne of fun optimising and figuring out solutions to the puzzles thrown at me. I wish leaderboards were more prominent in the game.
great alternative to studying
As a fan of both idlers and programming games, I've enjoyed this a lot. As far as idle games go, the pacing is pretty fast. As far as programming games go, I think the problems that it provides are in an interesting niche where there are both simpler "lazy" solutions that might be slower or less rewarding, as well as more complex solutions that are more rewarding. I've seen a few people wishing for a more fleshed-out IDE, but honestly I think the provided environment is fine. If you want something fancier, the game provides the tooling to use an external editor. It would be nice if the Python interpreter was a little more fleshed out, since it's missing some useful features (classes, *args, ternaries), but I don't fault them for it. I think the documentation is pretty well fleshed out, but I came into this with Python experience so I'm biased.
