I like Dungeon of Rikka. I recorded some of my progress in Dungeon of Rikka. Please take a look if you value a more Audio / Visual experience, as I discuss the game as I hack, slash and magic blast my way through it; in some semblance of style perhaps! https://youtu.be/UZS1GgPt9y4 Dungeon of Rikka is an Indie, Traditional Roguelike Dungeon Crawler that feels like a turn based Roguelike take on Diablo! Oh ya!
A Roguelike Take on Diablo?
Like Diablo, Dungeon of Rikka is rocking the Random Dungeon lvls born of Procedural Generation; good. Dungeon of Rikka allows you the increasingly rare honor in RPGs of actually allotting your attribute points at the start, along with allowing you to pick your class, right at the beginning of the adventure. Plus, in Dungeon of Rikka, you can put in a skill point at lvl 1, as you are lvl 1, not lvl 0; thank you! Remember to spend your skill point at the start! Every lvl, you get 5 more attribute points and 1 more skill points, like in Diablo 2; awesome! Equipment slots are the same as in Diablo / Diablo 2 too. Dungeon of Rikka also is rocking the familiar and excellent grid inventory of the old, yet still great Diablo games, focus…

Dungeon of Rikka is a ripoff of Rogue/Hack from the early 1980's, but with a Unity based 2D retro pixel/hand drawn art skin slapped on it (as well as a $5 price tag, which shows the developer is not without a rich sense of humour). Gameplay is very similar to NetHack but slightly shallower. While the depth of old school RPGs is lacking in so many games now, rehashing an old, dead format is not the correct way to resurrect it. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. Problematically, the user int…

Super cool little indie RPG game that offers randomized loot, randomized dungeon floor layouts and a unique experience each time you play it. I love that the potion colors and scroll colors and all randomized as well each time you play so you never know what "unidentified" scroll or potion will be exactly until you taste it, drink acid and lose health to discover it and say "OOPS!" lol It's a lot of fun, I admire the hand drawn art style as well. Great little game made from the heart with passion and well worth the asking price!

Dungeon of Rikka is a compact but thoughtfully designed turn-based roguelike that draws heavily from classic dungeon-crawling traditions while introducing a few distinctive twists that give it its own identity. Developed and published by Poorly Drawn Squid, the game centers on a looming threat sealed beneath a quiet village, placing the player in the role of an adventurer tasked with descending into a dangerous dungeon to prevent an ancient beast from awakening. While the premise is simple, it provides a clear sense of urgency that shapes both gameplay and decision-making throughout each run. At the heart of Dungeon of Rikka is a traditional roguelike structure built around turn-based combat, procedural dungeon layouts, and permanent death. Players choose from several distinct character classes at the start, each offering a different playstyle and strategic focus. Attribute allocation and skill selection immediately establish the tone of a run, encouraging players to think carefully about how they approach combat and survival. The game embraces old-school RPG sensibilities, from grid-based inventories to stat-driven progression, evoking a nostalgic feel that will resonate with fan…

Not to my taste. I did not enjoy this game. It is very simplistic and basic with very few options and skill choices. It is also very hard, so expect to die all the time and start over from scratch. Maybe it was more interesting if there was some continuity or improvement after each failed try. A couple of runs were enough for me to exhaust the experience.

The only way I found to play this game was to Exit and reload over and over again. At first things will go fine but then you can't go further. Shopkeepers rarely sell potions that heal or regenerate mana. They usually sell potion that harm you or are useless. Once you get farther in the game, the shopkeeper will usually be dead anyways because the monsters are stronger than the shopkeeper. To equate things, the shopkeeper is usually stronger than you are. If you run into a monster that uses a crossbow, just go ahead and reload and try again because you will end up with no hitpoints and unable to get health. What do you get if you beat the final monster? The game locks up. *laughs*
