About Dungeons of Dreadrock

Dungeons of Dreadrock is an adventure game that includes action, exploration and fighting but mainly focuses on puzzles.

"Every year, a young boy is chosen to defeat the King of the Mountain." - only this time, it's your brother. After accompanying him to the Dead King's Gate and letting him enter on his own as advised... Well let's just say things go different from there than the Village Elders expected.

In order to reach the Dead King's crypt to save your brother from being sacrificed you'll need to solve puzzles, evade traps and fight a bunch of enemies. There are scrolls to decipher, levers to pull, floor plates to step on, fireballs to evade, doors to smash or to unlock, and a whole lot of enemies to kill. But while Zombies or Dread Beetles are easy prey, a lot of other creatures from Ogres to Dark Elves, Minotaurs and Dragons will require more than just brute force to be overcome.

Dungeons of Dreadrock basically takes the idea of oldschool first-person grid-based real-time Dungeon Crawlers (like Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder or Legend of Grimrock) and shifts the perspective to top-down. But what seems like a little twist results in a whole new (yet somewhat familiar) experience that was designed to be accessible for oldschool gamers and casual gamers alike.

There's not much that can be said about this game. It's a short and sweet puzzle game with nice aesthetics, clever puzzles, light-hearted story and a very cheap price on sale. (It's also available on Mobile if you'd prefer to puzzle out on mobile.) The game has very good puzzle design where it has a very clear and easy to understand progression. There's also hints available for every level which I would recommend against simply because the game is 100 levels and that's it. No live service nonsense here and once you're done, you're done. When playing the game, you should try to solve it and if the plan doesn't work you should focus up and check details in the map for clues. Unusual walls, what might give you the item you're looking for and also the possibility to go forward or back temporarily in order to truly solve the puzzle. It's a fun little game that does everything very well and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Great little puzzle game. While not too complicated, there are many puzzles in which you have to take the time to think through, experiment with possible solutions, etc. I loved the story, which was simple, classic, and perfect for this type of game. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes fantasy games, puzzles, and something to do while drinking their morning coffee (or just taking a break).

Fun little puzzle game, fun narration and great pixel graphics with basic animation. Well worth the price especially when it's on sale. Completed in 3.5 hours with a bit of help from the built-in hints.

Dope little game. Clever puzzles, a hint system (yes this is notable cause for some reason other puzzle games rather let you look stuff up online), cute little story, doesn't overstay its welcome

Light, casual and fun.

Neat little puzzle game that reminded me a lot of Grimrock 1's puzzle design (which, well, Deadrock is pretty close to Grimrock...). A small handful of unintuitive solutions I would say, but the hint system alleviates frustration greatly. I especially loved multi-floor solutions where you'd need to go back and use some element from a level you thought you were finished with in order to continue.
