Warning: Asset Flip! Dust On Wheels is an asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated someone else's example/template/tutorial game, changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and submitted it to Valve as if it was their own game.
Dust On Wheels is an unusual case of DailyIndieGame getting high off their own supply... instead of acting as a clearing house for Russian asset flips, they've "made" and published their very own asset flip, and it's a stinker. This looks like an all terrain offroad driving and racing game, and I guess it is in the same way library paste is a kind of food. All you do is drive a few stolen/borrowed/plagiarised vehicle assets (there are only three to choose from, a plagiarised SUV, a plagiarised dune buggy, and a plagiarised ATV asset). Like all asset flips this is a true bare minimum viable product... there's nothing a racing game must have here, no minimap/track map, no independent camera control, no alternative viewpoints... the camera just (badly) follows behind you (with some lag). This is both pointless and thoroughly unpleasant to p…6 found this helpful
Basically it feels like an unfinished techdemo by some student. - No other views/camera modes, they went for the "crappy closeup fits all" view. - No info on keys, except the ones you can figure out yourself. - Invisible walls you can run into and come to an abrupt stop. - Non-existent physics/mechanics, you can't even do a pit manover on your challenger. - The tour mode has so much camera shaking it could mix a drink by just letting it sit next to the screen. The only thing they seem to have spent time on is the music, but even that got annoying since you can't turn the volume down, so you turn it off. AVOOOOOID!5 found this helpful
Figured I'd play the game for as long as it took the dev to make.3 found this helpful

Dust On Wheels is a modest, arcade-style driving game that tries to merge open-ended exploration with simple competitive racing, but ultimately delivers a very barebones experience that struggles to develop either side of that concept in a meaningful way. Developed and published by DIG Games, it drops players into a wide desert environment and gives them the freedom to race, roam, or simply drive without direction. The idea has potential—a lightweight sandbox racer with flexible pacing—but in execution, the game feels more like an early prototype than a fully realized product. The gameplay is divided into a few core modes, most notably standard races and a free-roam option. The racing mode is straightforward: compete against a small group of AI drivers across open terrain and aim to finish first. There are no complex rules, no intricate track designs, and no layered objectives—just a direct contest of speed. This makes the game immediately accessible, as players can jump in without needing to learn systems or mechanics. However, this simplicity also limits engagement. Races tend to feel repetitive, lacking the variety or tension that comes from more dynamic track design or advance…1 found this helpful
