ef - the latter tale. (All Ages)

This is part 2 of 2. Sequel to ef - the first tale. This VN was emotionally beautiful; I cried way too many times. It truly is one of the best romance/drama VN worth reading! Minori's art direction spoils me! They put so much work into their VNs with lots of CGs. Do get the patch, the H-scenes were amazing. I highly recommend reading this classic masterpiece! And watch the anime too! Thank you, minori! We appreciate minority spirit!

Ultra emotional and amazing story!

If it weren't for pacing issues this would have been a masterpiece (I'm talking ef in it's entirety both first tale and latter tale combined). It's still very good and a classic but I found two routes pretty dull (Kei's especially) and it took me quite a while to finish the VN as a result. Once I got to Yuuko's route though it was full steam ahead until the finish line. Yuuko's story was gut wrenching and for the most part well written but I do have some issue with how [spoiler]neatly the major conflict is resolved, after they hit you with the rather shocking reveal of her backstory[/spoiler]. Still it was worth the read overall, Chihiro's route and Yuuko's routes were my favorites. 8/10

(as always, you need to get a patch from mangagamer's site) An Amazing followup to The First Tale, with even better routes and an amazing conclusion to the story. Pretty much all the pros and cons of the first part are the same: tons of CGs, beatiful art and some INCREDIBLE opening and ending movies. And the cons being low resolution and a borderless windowed mode somewhat hiddem. Storywise this saw a huge upgrade. All the routes are amazing and full of surprises. My personal favorite was the very first route, it was so good it could had been its own vn imo. This was a great read and way better than the first part so if you were unsure about buying part 2 then go ahead and get it. Totally recommended

Welcome to truly beautiful storytelling. ef might not look impressive at first, but its themes, characters, presentation and superb writing drew me in and drowned the doubt I had before. There are far too many points to get to, but Minori made a very high quality game. In first tale alone, there are over 44 pages of CGs in a 15 hour game. No, not 44 CGs. 44 PAGES of CGs, all of which are brilliantly lit, with gorgeous backgrounds and even angled shots of the characters from afar. Blinking eyes and moving mouths are present in every scene. For a game from 2006, the quality is breathtaking. The music is calm, peaceful and fitting for the story. Even after reading so many, ef is just about the best nakige I've read. Sure, everyone loves nice sights and sounds but the story and its messages are really what's important. An author succeeds at creating a good character when they feel like walking, breathing humans, and ef does that very well. The main writer, Mikage, has a penchant for writing characters who are more human than just characters, good people who have an affliction or are tormented inside.
