Misleading. It's tagged with partial controller support despite being nonfunctional on mouse and keyboard and only functional on controller. This causes the game to be advertised to mouse and keyboard audiences and controller audiences despite it only being available on the latter. Edit: This has been fixed. While I still don't recommend the game as I don't think it's particularly great, the developers are responsive and have shown to fix issues, so thats a plus.5 found this helpful
"Embers: Return to Dragonland" is a nice looking but ultimately clunky and not so great 3D rendered 2D top down shooter that looks and feels like a console game but was launched on Steam instead by mistake. It's got co-op support, but the lack of KB+M controls kills this one. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. You cannot play this without a console peasant children's toy. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. [i] My Experience [/i] Unless it just looks awful from the jump, my co-op partner and I try most free cooperative games that release on Steam. [b]Embers[/b] seemed interesting enough - sort of a fantasy top-down shooter, featuring dragons. Although some of the reviews criticized the game's control scheme, we both used controllers and found the game to control fine. We played enough to retrieve one of the dragon eggs, but after we were defeated we didn't feel the urge to try again. The game is a little rough around the edges, from the inadequately signposted shrine where players can purchase skills to the ludicrous purple bat swarm that covers the whole screen and seems to take about 30 seconds to put down. For reference, this is much, much more time than any other enemy we faced. If you're looking for a fun, free top-down shooter to play with a friend, I'd recommend SAS: Zombie Assault 4 instead.2 found this helpful

Game looks nice. Also a good idea. Horrible controls. It was made for controller and the current keyboard mapping is horrible. We used X360CE to map a keyboard but the game really really needs controllers.1 found this helpful
