Empire Chronicles

tl;dr: A fairly long and pretty fun rpg with lots of playable characters, albeit can feel a little bloated/overwhelming with the amount of optional side-systems. Empire Chronicles is a fairly standard JRPG in its basic gameplay, with overworld exploration coupled with ATB-based combat. Combat graphics are pretty high quality, with most characters having different in-combat sprites depending on the type of weapon they're using, and some pretty cool skill animations. The story is told from the perspective of 3 differents parties, each with its own characters, story and inventory. Each party's story is split into chapters and the order you play them in is mostly up to you, though you do need to complete everyone's first chapter to access the second chapter and so on. While all the parties eventually meet and band together, you're still only allowed to choose and play with one of the 3 parties at any given time. During each chapter you have a clear goal, usually a location you need to reach, and you journey through plains, forests, dungeons and towns to reach it while fighting enemies and bosses. There are no random encounters and enemies are interactable in the overworld, defeated …

[h1]A lot of love and attention and effort went into this game.[/h1] So, I streamed this a couple of weeks ago, and so far I enjoyed it! I will say that it starts a bit generic, but the art is a strong selling point. If you're into RPG games of any kind, it's worth a look.

This is an amazing RPG with character development through skill trees so you can decide on which stats or skills you want to prioritize. Story line is very well written, and the world is huge. The crafting gives a ton of options on gear. The game is going to take a long time or you can blow through a lot of it by skipping fights. It's all up to the player.

The game is simple in some aspects and can be very challenging on others, but at the end of the day is a very fun game, there's a lot of playable characters with a lot of skills, a system that let you farm, chop trees, minning, brew your own potions and a lot more. The characters are enjoyable, their personalities are really different and you get to see a few funny interactions between them. Even some NPCs have some really funny twist or comments, like there's a dude that builds a shop in the middle of nowhere in a place infested with monsters and when you chat with him he says he thought he saw an "business oportunity" and thought he was going to be rich since his shop is the only one there, but after he built it, he saw all the monsters and no one travelled there due to the danger and now he cant leave because he is pretty much bankrupt xD The story is pretty straight foward and yet very well written, even tho you get to play with 3 different parties in different areas and time frames, you don't get lost on the story and it all ties up very nicely at the end.

Huge game, with tons of stuff to do. If you like RPGMaker games, give it a try.

Absolute passion project and it shows throughout. I've still barely scratched the service but the systems, attention to detail, and story on *chefs kiss*. Even the side dialogue has surprising pulls at your emotions. It is grindy which for me is wonderful (playing on brutal which may play into that). There are frustrations and bugs, you will occasionally get stuck or crash out, character images or dialogue choices are off. Even with those negatives, I still am genuinely excited to continue playing and want to support it with this review. If I ever made an rpgmaker style game, this is what I hope that dream would look like.
