Great game with really good storytelling. I thought the combat system won't be for me but I am surprised - it was really fun. Soundtrack is a masterpiece. Definitely can give this game 9/10.

Awesome game, the pixel style is amazing and the story touching. So cool so see games telling you great postcolonial tales.

This game got a glowing review from LocalThunk of Balatro fame, but unfortunately Is a big letdown in my book. The non-combat sections are reminiscent of old style point and click games to an extent, which is cool. The dialogue in conversation seems to be fairly minimal, much like an old Western movie. The aesthetics are great, and I love the pixel art. The real sticking point though is the combat. The combat plays out like a turn-based strategy game of sorts, where you and the enemy move at the same time. However you deal almost no damage, and the only strategy is running away and taking pot shots to whittle away the health of the enemies. Making matters worse is the guilt mechanic, which causes ghosts to materialize which attack you in real time (in other words, they are not frozen like conventional enemies and will keep coming). This is just another layer of tedium that is completely at odds with the strategy gameplay, albeit narratively fitting but mechanically infuriating. What's worse is that the enemies scale quickly, with you going from fighting animals and bugs to bandits with guns and explosives that can finish you in a hit or two. Worth noting that there's two tweaks y…

It felt like every time I picked this up, it was better than the previous session. It was a bit of a slow start, but by chapter 3 it really starts to pick up. The pixel art environment is great, and the soundtrack is one of the better ones that I've heard recently. Total time to beat was 11 hours, but didn't really have the desire for the achievement grind. If you stick around until the end credits, it'll give you instructions on how to get a physical item from the developers.

A unique game with a creative combat system, charming pixel graphics, an impactful story and a gorgeous soundtrack. The pacing of the game and the way it's broken up means that no aspect overstays its welcome. If you don't want to see this story through by the time the tutorial ends, check your pulse.
