Entwined: The Perfect Murder

What...? What did I just play?! Why... Just why? The story/game starts out okay and then... Then weird stuff starts to happen. I'll even ignore the weird cat face animation, but then... Then you need to get to the balcony and... There is a curtain in the way. What do you do? Do you A. Move it. B. Push the rod back up into its spot and go through the curtain itself. C. Just go through by parting the curtain? NO! NONE OF THOSE! YOU FIND A DAMN HACKSAW and... Cut the rod/curtains in half................. WHY?!?!?! Do you even know what "destruction of evidence" is?! It gets worse. I think someone else mentioned this... But you have a kettle. Okay great. You need water. Fountain is no longer available (no explanation, but okay), you still have the: tap, bathtub and at this point you can even use the ice from the fridge. So what do you do? You find a glass... Fill it up... And only then you can pour it into the kettle.............................. .......................... ..................?????????????????? Let's speed this up: This game also allows you to "boomerang" a wire. Blunt damage anyone? Okay. The flashlight is "tied by a rope" and can EASI…

Average HOG, at best. Scenes were well-drawn, visuals are the best part of this game. Translation errors in the text (english) and descriptions of the hidden objects. Arachnaphobic? Spiders in almost every HOG scene. As a law enforcement officer, I spent a lot of time breaking things in the 'name of the law'. Surprisingly sudden ending. Also, I left the stove on.

This game felt ridiculously counter intuitive, to a point where it was actually infuriating at times. It's trying too hard to make things as puzzle-y as possible, which then just makes it annoying. Also, why is a detective breaking and entering someone's house like that? I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this game.

A tentative yes for those who like hidden-object games. It's not the most compelling of games, but there are some aspects of interest. There is an odd contrast between the ambitious female police detective, who with her assistant, occasionally appears on the scene to interview suspects, and the lone player, who mostly goes silently from room to room picking up items to solve puzzles or to open a door or a locked chest. A chart that you can refer to gives whatever information is known on each of the suspects, but I find myself mostly ignoring it, instead just solving the puzzles as I come to them and solving the hidden-object scenes. Eventually the detective will tell me who is the guilty party, I think. The environment is a modern suburban neighborhood, so there is no (?) fairytale magic in it. The puzzles can be solved with items you pick up as you go along, but many critical items are not accessible at the time. You must go back and search for a knife or a key or whatever. The hints magnificently cover these instances, but the "adventure" aspects tend to wane in dramatic effectiveness when you have to backtrack so much to find an essential item to use in a later scene.
