Er-Spectro is a budget shoot 'em up with an interesting core mechanic of being tethered to objects and a Mega Man-style weapon upgrade system, but players feel it's held back by poor execution, lacking content, and obtuse controls that make it difficult to recommend as a paid product. The game's retro pixel art style and limited boss roster fail to compensate for the shallow gameplay and technical issues that leave players unengaged early on.

Er-Spectro is a badly made 2D retro pixel arcade style shoot 'em up/bullet hell game with basically no effort put into any of it. It's slapped together lazily with GameMaker Studio, blight on gaming that it is, and the developer couldn't even be bothered borrowing/stealing/buying any assets to make this an asset flip, it's got 2D retro pixel art that probably took less than 30 minutes to tap out in MS-Paint or whatever. Really scraping the bottom of the Steam barrel here. The game has 7 bosses and most people who played the game didn't bother with the first one. The gameplay is badly done, the controls obtuse, the graphics hard on the eyes. And this is a paid product, too. They actually want money for this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The graphics here are some of the worst, laziest attempt at video game "art" I've ever seen. It's hard to suggest this game even has graphics. It's just untextured, basic pixel blocks and blobs, the kind that an infant child might be able to create in 5 minutes on MS Paint. It has a few notable mechanics, such as being tethered to an object, that help give it a unique style of gameplay. You have an upgrade system similar to megaman style games, in which defeating a certain boss unlocks his weapon, but instead of switching weapons, they all just slowly combine together until you have a super powered weapon by the end of the game. Fun for some quick gameplay, but doesn't have enough content to feel like a lasting game.2 found this helpful
