Really bad level design, weapons make no sense and ammo scarcity doesn't help, enemies are just annoying in general and the game visuals are tiring after 5 mins

You get what you pay for. Exosuit is simple and minimalist. It is short as to not overstay it's welcome for how straightforward it is. The aesthetic itself is pretty quaint and endearing with it's neon outlined graphics. Loved this part-- the game looks REALLY cool. The level design is quite akin to Wolfenstein just with verticality and some slanted architecture here and there-- otherwise it's early 90s FPS through-and-through. The soundtrack needs a special mention here. It is nothing groundbreaking but it sounds extremely good and well paced for the gameplay. Big endorsement in that department. For 5 USD this isn't half bad though you may finish the campaign in under 2 hours. It's pretty short. My only complains is lack of enemy feedback (enemies lack death animations or individual sounds, instead they dissolve in something out of a old NES game,) prop destruction not making any sound (even though it shows a explosion puff,) the repeated use of boss enemies. The game is also maybe just one or two levels too short. Rounding the average completion time out to 2 hours might have been a better idea but any longer would definitely require more polish as to prevent the game from …

It's fine I guess, but it's also extremely generic. There's no plot to hook you in, all the textures look the same, there isn't an amazing variety in the weapons they give you. It's pretty much just Doom stripped down to the bare essentials. There's also no ending which is really lame, it just boots you out to the title screen after killing the final boss. The devs have said they're gonna update it with more content, but this game came out 2 years ago and there's been nothing new. I picked it up for $1.49 I think, and I guess I did technically get my money's worth. Absolutely do not buy this at full price.

(This review is mixed, I'm leaning on negative since there's both longer and cheaper games using the EFPSE engine on Steam in comparison) Exosuit is a Retro FPS developed by Emergency Exit using the Easy FPS Engine. Being someone who has kinda gone down a rabbit hole of EFPSE titles thanks to a certain DOSman and some other titles, Exosuit kinda is just the most basic form that a game using this engine can use and it really shows. Which is a shame cause I DO know you can make some fantastic stuff using EFPSE. Gameplay of Exosuit is comparable to Wolfenstein 3D but you can platform, where you have geometric built levels, with enemies to shoot, a kinda same-y arsenal of weapons, and unmarked secrets with goodies. I have played a few EFPSE games that also "in a nutshell" have this exact same gameplay loop but they either had more going for them to fit their theme, or at least had level design that wasn't annoying. Exosuit unfortunately doesn't do much for it's theme and has kinda annoying levels for EFPSE standards. Easily it's best level is it's first one and that's the Demo. And again it's not like it plays awfully or is the most hardest thing in the world, it's just very underw…

It's a nice game made with easy fps. I love the style and it's fun. But.... no credits when you end the game. Really nothing. You kill the big boss( it's a bullet sponge and you end up without ammunitions and have to end it with melee attacks), enter the corridor and then it's just the home page of the videogame. I would have liked for something more than that. Even just " the end"
