Background
Originally conceived while a student, Fail Fail Succeed grew from feelings of being stuck in a cycle of manic highs and depressive lows. The mechanics were designed as metaphors for those struggles: failure as an inevitable outcome, but traces of progress being left behind. In a bleak world of exhausting repetition, small comforts in the companionship of a loyal pup often became a guiding light.Fail Fail Succeed is developed by a single developer. A fun puzzler that is challenging without being annoying. Fez got repetitive, Baba is You made me feel stupid, this one just lets me figure out how to get to me doggie without too much angst.3 found this helpful
It's a nice game! - The controls are decent. - Something special of note is that the puzzles are quite well done; I would get stuck on something and have to often think it through before doing the right solution, which is the mark of a great puzzle game. - The progression of the player learning small challenges before taking on bigger challenges that build on the previous ones are handled well too. I was able to solve the whole game without needing the visual hint feature, but I liked turning it on after solving to see if I solved it in the intended way. - The music is relaxing. The motif occasionally reminded me of Factorio Space Age's motif, which was fun. - There are some bonus levels that explore mechanics that are far-out, but its neat how it exposes the depth to the mechanics that the game lays out. I implicitly helped contribute to this game's development :)3 found this helpful
Your world may be full of deadly lasers and spikes, and your brain may be going numb from managing the corpses of your past selves. The road to success may be rough, and you may fail over and over. But even the missteps take you forward: accept them as part of the process. Every time you get back up and try again, your resilience grows, and you learn something. Nurture that determination, and it will carry you. Because in the end, you can pet the dog. DOGS. ALL OF THEM YOU CAN PET ALL OF THE DOGS!!!2 found this helpful
I adore this little puzzle game, and I'm typically not someone who enjoys puzzle games. It's calming, tricky, full of soul and an incredibly well crafted little game that i recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing experience whilst exercising the noggin!1 found this helpful
Very enjoyable puzzle game. Learning curve is pleasantly steep and the puzzle get challending quite fast (which I liked very much!). Played it on Steam Deck and it worked perfectly.1 found this helpful
3/4: Cute little puzzle platformer where dying with an ability alters leaves something behind to help you solve puzzles. Neat concept, but (despite the cute dog) not really something I'd spend a ton of time with. It's just not the kind of gameplay that engages me. There's good polish though, including a a nice hint system and camera controls. Good ability variety, too!
