The beginning of runs feel very slow and difficult at first, due to not starting with a passive attack and slow movement. Unlocking new passive items changes this drastically. And don't forget to pick a lot of movement speed upgrades! The game did not seem to be that much fun on my first 2 runs, in which i didn't get very far. However, once it clicked and i actually got some synergy with my items and character, it was way more enjoyable. I like the way you upgrade your passive items by fullfilling stat-requirements and getting multiple copies of them. Here's some key notes of my experience with Fiendrise: -rather grounded gameplay for the genre with active abilities (love that) -short game and rather easy to beat once you get a build going -boss mechanics are basic and unsurprising, but have decent variety and can pose a bit of a challange -less visual clutter compared to other games in the genre -soundtrack is allright and very fitting for the different stages -great visuals I think Fiendrise is a fun little game when you go in with the right expectations. Beating it for the first time won't take too long, but i am sure i will come back to it since there's more characters and it…1 found this helpful
Starting fiends are a bit unpolished. Next ones feel much better though. The pace of getting upgrades could be a little faster, but overall it's really neat survivor.1 found this helpful
Fun little survivor-like that heavily incentivizes exploration by giving you permanent power-ups when you find hidden shrines in its' many stages. I liked that the weapons you gain on level up (mutations) visually change your character, think Risk of Rain 2 items. Tons of skills add a lot of replayability value and each character feels different enough; unlocking everything doesn't take very long, though I wish the skills were more visually impactful. Honorable mention to the stages' music, very catchy.1 found this helpful
Fun chaotic survivor-like where you can use skills and not just move around, which adds depth to the gameplay.1 found this helpful
