Fish Simulator: Aquarium Manager

Progress too slow for your taste? No problem: buy fish, let fish die, don't clean aquarium. Dead fish continue to grow and still give skill points every day. Works especially well with sword tails. It's beyond stupid.

A very cool concept and idea, however it stays very close to the premise and boredom of fish when observed for long periods of time, if you want something like this but engaging and busy, play Insaniquarium by PopCap games. otherwise strap up, its a long journey till the end! Edit: Probably also abandoned, so probably for the best to not buy this unless you like rougher built games

You kind of just sit there and wait for stuff to happen. It's an idle game that you have to pay attention too or your fish die. I thought there would at least be a few more options for customising the tank or just anything. I might play it again when I'm sick or something but I personally find it rather boring.

Still has great potential, but needs a few fixes to be playable long-term. As another review mentioned, there's no tutorials for some basic things like cleaning the tank (though it's easy enough to find if you spent a minute or two poking around the menu options), the tutorial was a little bit buggy when I started a new game as I didn't like how poorly I started off the first time around. The fish are a bit slow to eat, they'll get the food icon over their heads indicating they are hungry despite there being food in the tank. The biggest issue for me is the unlock tree - it first pulls up black for me, then when I reload it... it gets stuck scrolling to the right. In order to read the nodes to unlock them you have to hover your mouse over them, which is nearly impossible if the screen is moving quickly. It takes me a while to actually make out the full sentence. I didn't play long because of this, but it seems tough to balance out money at first. I'm sure there's more nodes that help increase your income like the first one, but I'm not about to spend 1 minute per node trying to decipher the entire massive tree. The Good: The game has a variety of fish types and some mechanics that require you to manage them. If you like grindy games and micromanaging, you might like this one. Completionist type players like myself will be addicted to unlocking the skill grid and there's at least some variety in there as some nodes are particularly valuable. The game is mostly bug free, with a couple of notable exceptions at the bottom of my review. The Bad: The game feels like its ambitions were much higher but then it was abandoned. It's been almost a full year since the last update, so at the moment I assume DuoBonza is done adding content. However, the tank decorations are very minimal (only 4) and only one of those has a functional purpose to my knowledge. There are sections of the skill grid that look like they were intended to unlock more fish but they are not accessible. I think they just jumped ship before it reached their vision. Maybe the sales were subpar, I don't know. Finally, the game will not keep you occupied more than a few days of hard grind. You can complete all unlocks with two or three days of dedication. The Steam achievements help, but you'll unlock all of those in a few more days.…

As other comments have stated this isnt as much of a simulator. Ive loved fish/village simulators on phones etc. (usually stop playing once i hit the paywall) before, but this is much more of an idle game/clicker. Theres too much waiting around to unlock new fish. theres little immersion beyond the fish themselves and little explanation. Still cant figure out how to keep the one availible plant healthy. Must feed the fish every 3 seconds. If you want a couple of cute fishies swimming around on your computer in idle mode as a wallpaper I think you'll be pretty happy, however.
