About Flash Diving

Flash Diving is a claustrophobic short horror experience where sound will be key to ensuring the success of your mission and your own survival, heavily inspired by games such as Iron Lung and Five Nights at Freddy's.

Descend through a drill-made hole in the middle of an ocean in order to find the drill itself, or what remains of it.

Use the four old floodlights outside your small capsule to uncover what is hiding in your surroundings. But be careful, the technology is prmitive and it might take a while to charge the flash.

The game uses a minimal control scheme, similar to a walking simulator, where you can just walk and click.

The art style employs a pixelated look and low-poly models to reminisce about older games with lower resolutions, but where gameplay was profound and fun to play.

As of today, there are no remaining natural resources on your planet, and the cold war that has been going on between nations has only made the situation worse. Your government, in a desperate attempt to gain an advantage over their enemies, sent a drill to the middle of the central ocean, since a geolocation analysis had found an anomaly in that place. Upon reaching the anomaly, connection with the drill was lost.

It is thought that one of the opposing nations might have found the operation and interacted with the expedition, so you are sent in a small capsule, controlled by a ship in the exterior, to reach the drill and ensure the connection to its database and the retrieval of the results.
The game is small and very primitive.

The game mechanics are so thin they're hard to describe. There're not many of them.
If you ask me whether to play it or not, I'd say no.
Will you be surprised by the game? Definitely no.
5/10. Very poor and small game, coulda done more.

Cool idea, not a very interesting game. I suppose it's a bit uncouth to give a free game a negative review, but I don't generally like to factor in the price of a game when considering it's value. I base my review on time spent vs enjoyment had. Regardless of how much or little a game costs in money, all games cost in time sunk into them, and some are more worth that time than others. Flash diving is a game that can be fully completed in about 10 minutes, and that time is doubled if you get all the achievements. The concept of this game is interesting. It's a bit like Iron Lung, but with less setup and MUCH less to do. Essentially, you have to wait for about 2-3 minutes for the first section of the game to finish, which has nothing going on. Then, you get to the actual game, and your progress is saved so you don't have to go through the beginning again. The gameplay has you listening for a sound, and pressing 1 of 4 buttons to prevent death. If you have any kind of hearing problems, or you don't have headphones, you cannot play this game. You must spend several minutes listening intently to the direction of the sound and hit the button in that direction ASAP. As…

Very good game ! It took me some time to understand the gimmick (I actually got both
Cheater.
and
You've played this before.
achievements before the normal one) but, once understood, it was a really fun experience. The ambience is really well made, maybe the single flaw I can see in the sound design is the footstep noise being super loud but it doesn't really bothers much. Anyways, if you see this, then I really want you to play this game, it's a really short experience and you won't be disappointed !

Definitely not a very complicated game, a very neat little demo of an idea. It felt like I would die in fairly unfair ways near the end because of the strangely tight reaction window to fend off the beast, where I would die even after everything goes quiet. Other than that, it is a fine game

I tried this a few times and never managed to figure out how it worked and I seem to remember getting achievements anyway, and at least one said I cheated when I had no idea how I did.
