About Flight Of Nova

Flight of Nova is a simulator based on newtonian mechanics in which you control spacecraft in the Noren star system. You will fly multiple types of spacecraft doing transport and search missions in an environment with realistic aerodynamics and orbital physics.

Flight Of Nova features two gameplay modes:
1. Map Operations: contain series of missions taken from specific region or orbital station.
2. Rogue Mode: global missions based on messages we receive on the cockpit monitor FMS.

Key Features:

* Track IR support
* HOTAS support
* Realistic gravitation and orbital physics
* Atmospheric density inspired by earth data
* Aerodynamic drag corresponding to vessel shape
* Drag / air friction energy calculations
* Real-time accurate orbital data
* Orbital stations and docking system
* Planet surface outposts
* Real-time control over spacecraft
* Full-scale body diameter 12’700 km
* Search and transport missions
* Quick flight challenges

This is a very fun flight/lander cargo transport simulator. Fly from base to base(or skybarge), planet to space station and back again in a variety of missions with 3 different ships with unique capabilities and handling. There are a lot of little things that make this game great; The physics feel real but forgiving in all the fun ways, the terrain is varied and fun to fly risky maneuvers around (like barrel rolling over a mountain range with a cargo container of titanium), the engine sounds, the music, space debris and other ships flying around that you occasionally have to avoid, damage system that can lead to exciting emergency landings, the atmospheric affects, the air controllers radioing you on approach, the cargo container ship is especially cool with its big rotating VTOL engines. Excited to see this game and star system expand with more bases, stations, and mission types. I would love to see rescue missions, passenger missions and/or a passenger focused ship, station to station missions or mission between the moons with a time warp option that works in orbit, a bigger ship that can carry even larger cargo containers or has a cargo bay big enough to carry multiple standa…

🚀 This game is basically a space sim with KSP-style realistic physics and orbital mechanics. When even the simplest things like landing, docking, or picking up cargo can be SO CHALLENGING at first, it gives you an equal amount of accomplishment and enjoyment when you finally learn how to do them correctly. I just really wish there will be more tutorials in the future that explain how to do planet reentry correctly, station to station movements, or even moon to moon, like how getting into orbit is explained right now. 📦 For now, progression is just earning new levels to unlock harder hauling missions: like picking up loose cargo and dropping it in designated places, hauling stuff into buildings, onto moving aerial ships, onto stations, between them, or even to different moons. But it would REALLY shine when an actual economy, upgrades, and more ships are added. It would also be interesting to see how other "professions" and tasks would work with this realistic approach. Imagine mining, combat, or maybe docking with derelict ships and retrieving them. It would be really fun to see what this game eventually evolves into. But its already quite fun right now, so if this sounds intere…

I've got over 1000 hours in Elite Dangerous, the bizarre speed limits in local space flight and incomplete astrophysics model always bothered me. Finally, that itch is being scratched by Flight of Nova. I love this game!

(Quick edit: After browsing forums, I have learned that there is a custom waypoint system, but it is not available in 'Map Operations' mode, which is nonetheless a truly bizarre choice.) Honestly the toughest thing about this game isn't even so much the physics or controls. I don't have any HOTAS or other such peripherals that would make that much easier, but I fare decently enough with keyboard, you just have to have the right setup. The real toughest thing is the lack of basic accessibility and options for ease of use. Take for example how throttling works; Most likely, you're expected to use your own throttle peripheral. But for anybody who doesn't have that luxury, if you're not going full force, you have to contend with finnicky timed key presses (in my case) in order to maintain things like VTOL flight at a semi-stable altitude. This goes against already established common grounds between "realistic" spaceflight games. It's not perfect, but games like Elite: Dangerous, Kerbal Space Program, and more recently, Void Cargo, usually have some sort of virtual throttle that you can adjust through keyboard presses to take off some of the focusing strain. As well in those games, t…

I like the movement but I think the world detail could be better, looks stretched
