✦ AI summary

Floody has charming pixel art and an innovative local multiplayer concept where players build platforms while avoiding a rising flood, making it enjoyable for couch gaming with friends. However, the game suffers from significant issues including lack of online multiplayer despite promotion for it, missing tutorial and quality-of-life features, repetitive gameplay, and limited depth beyond the core mechanic, making it feel underdeveloped and better suited as a party novelty than a full game experience.

Floody is an unusual hybrid endless-jumper and 2D retro pixel platform brawler. Gameplay consists of jumping upwards endlessly, creating platforms and brawling other players (there are no other players). There are no players, for reasons we'll get into below. There's a rising "Flood" (hence the uninspired name for this shovelware). Thus, as you jump endlessly upwards and brawl, your opponent will try to knock you into the flood. The match is won by whoever is the last left standing on a platform. The focus of the game is pure PvP, there's no single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the game. The vast majority of PvP-only games fail because they don't "go viral", and without players, or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game.It failed. SteamDB shows the game hit all-time peak player numbers just after launch, with only a tiny True concurrent users, which is a pitiful number, and now the game has nobody playing at all, just a one or two peo…

Cute hand painted visuals and a very interesting platform battle mechanic. This game is great to try out for a game night with a couple of friends! Basically you try to build up and try to keep your friends below where the encroaching waves kill those too slow. There's multiple items you can get and use to change the platforms and hinder your opponents. An in-game tutorial is lacking but you can just watch the 2nd video on the store page for a tutorial with some good tips for advance gameplay. I'd recommend it as it's great with a couple of friends!

Floody is a 2D platformer party indie game where you have to build the stage with your friends and be the last one standing on the platforms. Among the many recent indie games I have played, I think this one is actually fine. The idea of them game itself is quite original, but it has many flaws. It is not playable online even though it is promoted for that. It is missing a lot of QOL features and development. The gameplay is very repetitive. The achievements go against the PvP concept of the game. 5/10.
