short & creepy but fun 7/101 found this helpful
I don't usually play horror games, so this one was almost too much for me. =) The puzzles were just difficult enough. Great atmosphere. The movement system took a little bit of getting used to, but it was fine. After finishing the game, I'm left with just one question : what is the significance of the adoption papers ? But perhaps that is explained in the other games ?
Its a neat experiment, but i think it's pretty safe to say judging by other reactions as well, that the 3d interface here really makes the FH experience a slog. Without the snappy play to support it where even if the odd puzzle kinda sucked at least it was fast to fail and try new things, this interface feels like absolute torture when you aren't sure what to do. Even if free on that alone I can't recommend it. Side note, these are just nitpicks so other steam users feel free to ignore but hey devs, 1) man THAT'S the way you do the first "puzzle" in terms of finding the second key after the tutorial one? EESH thats bad. 2) not sure who writes the hint text but all the hints i saw basically just say to look at the item and things i already looked at for a hint. your hint is to look at the thing to solve the puzzle?
Forgotten Hill: The Third Axis, developed and published by FM Studio, represents a bold step forward for a series that has long relied on 2D point-and-click horror. This installment transitions into a fully 3D, first-person experience, attempting to deepen immersion while preserving the eerie identity that has defined the franchise. Rather than abandoning its roots, the game builds on them, retaining its focus on puzzle-solving and unsettling storytelling while reimagining how players interact with its disturbing world. You take on the role of an investigator tied to the enigmatic “Third Axis,” tasked with uncovering the truth behind a disappearance in the twisted setting of Forgotten Hill. The narrative unfolds in fragments, relying on environmental storytelling, cryptic notes, and bizarre encounters to slowly reveal its secrets. There is very little hand-holding; instead, the game trusts players to piece together its lore through observation and deduction. This approach works well in maintaining intrigue, as each new discovery feels like a step deeper into something unnatural and quietly menacing. The gameplay remains centered on exploration and puzzles, but the shift to 3D cha…
Very good game for a freebie
A really well made game overall, you don't usually get free games like this. A very fun and slightly challenging point and click adventure. Lots of hidden items and you have to use your camera to really look around in 1st person perspective to find them sometimes. I wanted to give a positive recommendation but I encountered an issue while playing the game and basically its been an issue for at least 2 years. The developer basically ignored the problem and told the guy that the problem didn't occur when they played it, so I think he just ignored it, letting future players run into the same problem. Its just a frustrating thing to go through, having to replay the game multiple times until you figure out what caused the game to break on you.
